A recent post about heated gear made me think about my winter setup, so I rummaged through the old boxes and dug out my Gerbing 12v jacket, gloves, and wireless controller. I ordered a Tusk switched power module, and wired it in. When I was installing the tail tidy, I had the foresight to make a Y-splitter with JST connectors, so it was easy to get ignition signal from the license plate light. The power module and the wireless controller tuck in nicely around the battery. The remote is still running with the original battery, nearly 10 years since purchase. It is a dual channel, so I can control the jacket and the gloves independently. Together with the heated grips, I can forget it's cold outside :)

If anyone is interested in more detail, I will gladly share.

Is that paint or vinyl?
Nice job either way
Thanks ..vinyl.. I'll probably change the color again in 1 or 2 years so vinyl it's a lot easier to remove...it's not perfect but you have to look at it very close to see some bubbles ..I thought about plasti dip but decided on this since I did carbon fiber look on my 23...I'll post pictures once this are on the bike next season

Wow...that looks great for vinyl!
I've watched a friend of mine do a gas tank, twice...and no thank you.
That seat cowl especially, that takes Alot of skill to come out looking so good.
Excellent job sir!

There are days where I'd like to be able to say that I officially went 200 mph on my bike......then those days pass and I'm happy to be able to ride it at all....

There were a couple times when my mind thought I did as I was in full tuck, GSXR mirrors were folded, the tach was maxed, the road was perfect with no wind and it was oddly serene, no wind noise or buffeting..........I didn't look at the speedo until I let off and I noticed it took a long time to move before dropping.....which led me to believe I was pretty close to being at 2 ton......

Fastest I have been is in Mexico on a test track
shift light in 6th with 20x40 gearing

Funny when I go to Loring , I ALWAYS make a sighting run to see how I feel
Sighting run still ends up 200-210mph

I recall a few years ago while at a Suzuki manufacturer track day on board a then new GSXR, I was feeling pretty good until the test rider went by me and disappeared......it was a humbling experience and a reminder that it had been years since I was a competitive racer.....of course this test rider weighed about 10lbs and basically lived at test tracks......

These days I'm an old guy out on the back road with an outdated yellow and black moose reliving my youth........living vicariously though guys like yourself..........and I'm good with that......

If someone offered me to ride their 200+mph bike down a track, and I was already there, I wouldn't be able to pass it up, why not, but otherwise, I could care less about it at this point(and I am not knocking anyone who has and does, I think it's great), as it's not a goal of mine, and I came witnin 3mph of it already anyway.
Today I'm a happy has-been.
My cruising speed at times is fast for some and slow to others...but just right for me. Some days it's even 20-25mph just creeping, or side-saddle.
But, good blast of speed is fun once in a while too

Something I learned a long time ago is to never lend anything out.....a colleague of mine lent his best friend his new Toyota Supra only to find out he rolled it drunk on the way back from the bar he went to......he ran from it and left the car in the middle of the road which prompted the cops to pay the owner a visit...it took a lot of convincing for them to believe he wasn't driving it.....even all of us saying he was in the common room watching TV with us wasn't doing it as they figured we were just covering for him.....

It was a special edition car too and hard to replace.....he was pissed......that was in the '80s but I bet he's still pissed off......

I recall the day I bought a brand new '97 F150.....two tone black and silver.....I had just got home from the dealership when the neighbor came over to look at it...his first request was to see if he could borrow it to take stuff to the dump......I told him where to go in no certain terms.......

I get that too, and know of several similiar situations.
But, I am fortunate to still have a few long time friends, and we have been driving each others vehicles and riding each other's motorcycles for decades now.
As you know the '18 Gsxr1000R I have isn't even mine, yet I've kept it, do all the work, and ridden it as my own since it was new(as he drives a truck for a living and has a wife and kids too, and he knows that I'll keep it up and have it ready for him whenever he wants it, he just shows up, rides away, and brings it back when he's done).
A few years ago when I hit a deer on it, doing about $3400 in mostly cosmetic damage, he could've cared less about the bike, and must have asked me a hundred times if I was sure that I was ok.
He said, don't worry about it, I'll get the parts to fix it soon.
To which I laughed...and I started ordering everthing that it needed, and had it fixed shortly after...and in the new color fairings that he wanted anyway, lol
Whenever one of us gets a new bike, we have to take it and let the rest of us try it too, and if we want to borrow one, it's simply a "when are you coming?"
It's always worked great, and we have gotten to ride alot of bikes that we otherwise would not have had the chance to.
