Just hit 58,000 ks. But she's starting to shudder.and be a bit argumentative.New clutch? How many miles on the old one? I turned over 88,000 on my Yellowstone trip and I’m still running the original.
Do you get the oil filter removed without disconnecting the the oil cooler hose?I have begun cleaning it up after my trip, many miles in the rain really dirty up a bike. Removed and cleaned the cans, chain guard and rear wheel, cleaned and lubed the chain, plexus the bodywork from the seat back. The Amsoil and oil filter arrived and a new air filter is coming Saturday. Next I’ll plexus the side and front bodywork and clean the front wheel then remove the right fairing for an oil change. A new rear tire will be in soon and I’ll button it all back up. I prefer doing these things in stages.![]()
I replaced my clutch plates with a OEM kit just like yours but that was a year ago, with 138,000kms on the original set!
Wow, I would never have thought events lije this occurred there. Hope it doesn't rain for you.Just finished prepping my Busa for the trip to the Greymouth Street Racing on the West Coast on Sunday.
Leaving tomorrow and staying with a mate on Saturday night at his place, about 35kms north of Greymouth.
Forecast is for rune weather tomorrow but rain on race day.. darn it!
Here’s a taste of what we are in for…
Hi. Where did you get the radiator? My old 1999 ran hot. My 2003 tuns cool below 1/2 even when I raced it.I replaced my clutch plates with a OEM kit just like yours but that was a year ago, with 138,000kms on the original set!
I’ve never slipped the clutch on take off coz they tend to judder badly in the torque limiter mechanism.. I hate that!!
Trying to get away quickly at a traffic light with your mates all on the gas and my bikes bucking like a bronco lol.. no fun at all! Lmao!
Yes, I’ve never removed the hose. The K&N filter is easy to remove even with hot pipes. My Rad looks like your old one although it never overheats. As it’s getting older I wonder about the fuel pump too. Never been serviced. I think it’s time for a valve check. What’s a new gasket cost these days?Do you get the oil filter removed without disconnecting the the oil cooler hose?
I always disconnect the hose other wise I can’t get the filter out past the headers… although my headers are Akrapovic, not OEM..
I’m always concerned about the cooler hose flange mounting Bolt holes threads in the crankcase getting worn out with repeated oil changes and constant removal.
One day they’re gonna strip out, and I’m not looking forward to that!

Yeah, we even have electricity here in New Zealand lol.Wow, I would never have thought events lije this occurred there. Hope it doesn't rain for you.
Will you be riding the Busa on that course or just riding around while you are there?Yeah, we even have electricity here in New Zealand lol.
It’s Saturday morning 8am here and sunny and cool and I’m getting ready to leave, it’s 250kms to get there so I’m leaving at 10am… rain is forecast for tomorrow so will stay Sunday night as well.. should be clear on Monday.
Hi Mike! I got the radiator and hoses from good old China just like most things these days.Hi. Where did you get the radiator? My old 1999 ran hot. My 2003 tuns cool below 1/2 even when I raced it.
Racing the Busa???Will you be riding the Busa on that course or just riding around while you are there?
I didn't think so, but thought I'd ask.Racing the Busa???
Are you mad? Lmao!
I’m riding over to the town where the event is and standing on the sidelines watching the mayhem unfold… always a few crashes and a few years back there was a death so that almost shut the event down permanently. . . But the organisers carried on the event, it’s every year on this public holiday weekend.
We had another street race in a small country town called Methven, only 40kms from where I live, that ran annually for many years.
Then around 5 years ago a guy was killed in a crash in one of the races, and they closed that event down permanently after that.
Buts there’s a few street racing events running here In NZ every year…
Here’s one in the north island . . .
I know how much you care for your bikes and assumed the potential danger of any collision would be enough to keep you off the circuit. The kit is quite a decent savings versus all individual parts. And it includes gasket and new springs.I replaced my clutch plates with a OEM kit just like yours but that was a year ago, with 138,000kms on the original set!
