Place helmet on ground or on mirror, on rear sissy bar etc, just remove the swinging weapon from your hand pleaz!

After chasing a few ive seen some of the locals have you remove the key and hold the bike up with the side stand up. That way you cant fight without dropping the bike and you cant drive away in most cases with the key in your hand.

store you helmet behind you.. then when you get pulled over and stop the bike.... reach back there and put the helmet on...

Yes this has worked for me. I love the look on their face when they see I'm older than they are most of the time. I have rode bikes for over 40 years and had never been stopped once. I have had the busa since July 05, and I have been stopped twice. First time was going a little over the limit but got no ticket. 2 nd time was not doing anything,. Think the cop just wanted to check out the bike! I stay on the bike, put the side stand down, remove my helmet and wait untill to officer comes up to me, then ask if it's ok to get off.

Years ago I was told that you should always immediately remove your helmet when you are stopped by the police.  It was supposed to "disarm" you and make you appear less "potentially hostile" to the policeman.  Does anyone have any experience that supports or refutes that theory?

Luckily, I haven't been pulled over much (no whammies, no whammies..)  But, when I have, I have always immediately turned off the bike and removed my helmet.  Though, I don't if it helped or not.

Maybe some of our members who are men/women in blue could comment? (though, they might not be "typical" policeperson's because of their membership in this great site).

Remove your helmet it helps me the Deputy Sheriff identify you against the photo on your drivers license. Also it is respectful to talk to a law enforcement officer face to face. You will find if the officer/deputy knows any thing about bikes he will know that you stopped because you wanted to not because you had to. He will know that all you had to do was twist the right wrist and you would have been out of site. I know this from both sides of the law. In my younger and dumber days that is what I did because when I got stopped I got a ticket. Now that I’m older I realize that when I used to get the tickets, it was not for what I did, but my smart a$$ mouth.

99 out of a 100 motorcycles that I stop do not get a ticket unless that let there mouth over load themselves you know what I’m talking about…

Trust me I write a lot of tickets I’m a motor Deputy that is all I do 10 hours a day.

The cops could give a crap if you're speeding.  Ask them how long they'd have a job if they didn't write tickets.  It's all about the money.  If a ticket was just a point on your license, we'd all have zero points..........money makes the world go around.  If you haven't read my "what to do list when you get a ticket".....do a search on some of the busa forums.  The judge will take a payoff......opppss.......did I say that?.........what I meant was, you could plead defective equipment.........pay a little more, and there are no points on your license. Traffic cops. Just put up another toll booth instead and let the cops do a real job.......like fighting a real crime

1 Simple rule when stopped by an Officer. Do nothing EXCEPT exactly what the officer commands you to do. If he says get off the bike then get off the bike what every he says. Remember he's iniciating the stop so the officer will need to be in charge every step of the way. Take his/her lead and follow it.

I was pulled over once by a Texas Trooper. I was behind him and he rode the shoulder for me to pass him, then got behind me. I was like should I run? Well I did not have the gas or tire to. I looked in the mirror, saw his lights and pulled over. he told me to turn off the bike, pull up the kickstand and hold the bike upright. He complimented my bike and was just basically checking it out. He ran my VIN numbers and it did not show up becuase its not registered yet, didn't have my ID in hand, and no rear plate. He asked for my plate and I said I have one in the Hump, but its for my Katana so that would do no good. He let me off with a warning for no display of rear LP. He was cool.
