I went down for the first time today. Still doesn't feel like it really happened. No one to blame but myself.

I was heading home with my wife on her bike behind me and taking some back country roads that we have taken a few times. Came to an point in the road were I could go straight or fork off. More or less chose to turn too late, realized I was hot, so I decided to stay straight. As soon as I decided to stay straight I saw the gravel triangle in the middle of the road and knew I was screwed. Front end washed out and I laid down on the left side. Bike and I slid off the road into the ditch. I rolled right out of it and bike caught something a flipped over once it hit the grass from what I can tell.

I am very impressed how I and the bike held up. I bet I was going 50 or so when I lost it. Stator cover, frame slider and mirror took the brunt of the damage. I was leaking, but it was slow enough I rode her home. Snapped the left mirror off and broke my Puig Double Bubble. Left slider will need replaced. Some minor cosmetic damage to the fairings. Some holes in my jacket, but managed to keep the Arai off the pavement

I'll have a big ole bruise on my hip, but that is it.

So I think I am a lucky guy today!!!!

Lunch at Old Country Buffet: $18
Dark Knight at IMAX: $30
Experiencing your first spill and living to tell the tale: Priceless

So, anyone have a left mirror, stator cover, or double bubble wind screen?

well im happy to hear your ok and the bike is ok for the most part, most of us on here have been down at sometime or another, please dont get discouraged and use this as a learning experiance

Glad you are ok bro. Washed out on my Gixxer July 1st and I am still sore. You don't sound vaguely discouraged, so walk it off, patch her up, ignore the bruise and enjoy the ride.

Good job to you for gettin back on her.
Did the wife suffer any visual damage.
Buddy of mine did the same and his wife will not ride anymore.

She would rather I not do it again. LOL.

She is fine. My parents were babysitting our 2 month old while we were out and my mom is the one who flipped out. My dad understands as he has ridden his whole life, but I got the 'speech' from my mom. She wants me to think about my family and sell....she is a bit of a looney, lol.

I appreciate everyone's kind words. I don't have any doubt I will be back up and running. I may take this opportunity to break her down and do a few mods I have been putting off...

I have had worse injuries in my college and arena football days....nothing time won't heal.

Sorry to hear. Good luck with the rebuild. No damage to the exhaust? WOW!

Glad you are all right. I have the cover, mirror and a puig double bubble if needed.

I feel your pain, I wrecked mine last sunday, I feel like a piece of me is missing, get well and get back on her I plan to.

My wife won't ride any more after witnessing my accident 17 years ago. She was following behind me in the car and saw a car take me out. She never rode again!

GLAD YOU'RE OKAY, Bro !!!! Really glad to hear that you're pretty upbeat over it !! I beat myself up mentaly over mine, and it does NO GOOD !! Can't wait to see pic.'s when it's all better.

Bro.. Happy to know that you made it through your first lowside relatively unscathed.
Now, go to the pharmacy and buy some Alleve. Use it since the second day is always more painful than the first.
