Very sad story. 13 is a very awkward age and this type of situation does not make things easy to deal with. Prayers to you my friend and I wish the best for your family.

Poor little thing. My wife lost her dad (to alcohol/heart attack) when she was 11 years old. It's caused her long term damage to her psyche for which she has issues with daily ("my daddy would rather drink himself to death than to be my dad I must not be worth crap"). Watch for self-worth issues she is at a tender age.
