"IF" Colorado is selected...

The casino towns are busy in the summer.

If you want to be able to get a good rate on the hotel, then a ski resort is the place to go. It's their off-season and will be more likely to give a good rate.

Steamboat Springs, Copper Mountain, Vail, Aspen...you get the idea.

Buena Vista is centrally located within the Colorado twisties...

I would suggest Denver as a general meeting point on Friday night or Saturday morning and then go from there. Black Hawk is not hard to get to even on a Friday night, you just end up following the tour buses and traffic for 8 miles up the canyon. Most of the casinos have covered parking and I am sure they would work with us. I mentioned in the vote thread that an August trip would work if we tie it into Cyclefest that is in Copper Mountain. It is 1.5 hours from Denver and only 45 mins to an hour to copper from there. The other suggestion is to tie it in with the AMA Superbike racing south of Colorado Springs, but that is usually in late May and it may be too cold to ride through the mountains at that time of year. If I am still living in Denver at the time of the meet (might be transferred to Phoenix next year around May - August) I can offer up my garage and could house a few people, garage would fit 5-6 bikes but I would only be able to house 2-3. There are hotels really close to my house so people could park in my garage and I could shuttle people to the hotel at night and back to my place in the morning.

Good info TP. Do I hear any ya's for having our Busa round up on Labor day weekend ?

Well Labor Day weekend can be dicey in the hills as well, snow on Labor Day is a good possiblity at the higher elevations. I would suggest the meeting be between June 10th and August 20th, that is the most likely to have good weather in the mountains. The average high temperature at Copper Mountain on Labor Day is 53, so that is a little chilly, the temp for the first 2 weeks of August is 60 according to wunderground.com.

Well I, er, live in Colorado Springs, which admittedly is home to a lot of nutjobs, but it is kind of a nice town and the riding is good. Denver's ok, I suppose, but it isn't much to look at. Still, we don't have to be there the whole time...

I highly reccommend Copper Mountain, the reason for this is if you stay at the rsort they have enclosed and secure underground parking for the bikes. When I was there in August this year there were 10 of us just in my group and I left the truck outside and parked the bike in the underground garage, which has key access only. And for the most part all the people that will be there will already have a bike so no thieves around. Copper is about 1 1.5 hrs west of Denver right on I-70. Just my .02 and they will work with a big group for discounts on lodging.

Cyclefest in August is a great opportunity for a meeting but anytime after May 15th is doable. If everyone wants to meet in Denver than I can set up a local Suzuki dealer to host the event for us....I can also get the regional Suzuki rep to help get a tent and other stuff for the meeting as well. If its in Denver then our local club can help coordinate a BBQ and party.
