I despise thieves!! My home was broken into by the slimy b@$t@rds & $10,000 worth of firearms were taken, gunsafe was bolted to the floor & they pried it up & took gunsafe and all. I know how you feel. I hope they get the jerks who did this.

Sorry for the rip off bro. I can tell you that it must be some kids or a junkie. In my area, the car would have been gone especially since it was running. So at least the car was still there. I hat thieves also.

They almost never catch them. And my luck the last two years has been terrible

I will do some searching of my own. Going to check all the local stereo shops and see if there is any pawn shops. There is a spanish flea market nearby though, and that presents a problem. So much stuff can pass through there without anyone ever knowing

If they had stolen the car it would have made it worth while. We have full coverage on a car that's paid off. Would have come out ahead. Instead they stole just enough to match our deductable.

Actually, if the car is not locked insurance would give you hell and pay you as little as possible anyway. I used to live in Portland. I know how the police and most insurance works there.

I have a remote start module on my truck that locks the doors when it's running. If anyone tampers with it the truck shuts off and the alarm starts screaming.

So my police report is filed. They are working it. Not a lot of hope there. The pawn shops don't want to talk, of course, because if they buy it they lose out altogether. I will be watching craigslist and stopping by pawn shops to see what I can figure out. None of the neighbors lost anything, so I was the only one targeted. At least that means they either had no interest or no time. If it's no time maybe I will get a chance to talk to them later

To whoever stole the sub out of our running car this morning,

I would like to congratulate you on winning this weeks addition to "dumbest criminals"...not because you are going to get caught. OH NO. Because you STOLE THE SUB OUT OF A RUNNING CAR!!! Are you dumb? Are you mental? Or, did you just envy the stereo system? Which, by the way, you left the rest of the stereo IN THE FREAKING CAR...so what good is the sub going to do? Since the car was running, why didn't you do us, the Gresham Police and yourself a favor and steal the WHOLE BLOODY CAR?!? Seriously, we would have given you AT LEAST a 10 minute head start.

It would have been good for us because the car is paid off, and we still carry full insurance in hopes that someone smarter than you will come along and steal it...or someone with nice insurance will hit it...and we can get a new car. Yeah, that would be pretty sweet. But no...you just too the sub.

The police would have LOVED it, cause it would have given them something more to go on than just a random stereo. Although, on a side note, props to you oh criminal for making the police officer scratch his head. I had to repeat several times that yes, the car was running, and no, we still had everything BUT OUR SUB.

YOU would have made more money taking that POS to a scrap heap and getting yourself some cash. Mind you, we totally would have given you a head start.

Anyhoo, next time you want to scare us half to death and make us feel unsafe in our own home, can you AT LEAST do us the favor of TAKING THE WHOLE CAR?!?

And, count your blessings. Jeff is a military trained safety person. What the Navy calls a MA. (Like Military Police, but the Navy doesn't have the ability to call their guys that) He has been trained how to fire a weapon. AND, we have some in the house. SO, IF he had ran to the window when he heard that strange noise while packing his belongings...you might have been in a bit of trouble. So...kudos for stealing the sub quietly.

HOWEVER...he totally would have waved you off if you had just STOLEN THE WHOLE FREAKING CAR!!!!!!!!!!!! His sub is, however, most precious to him.

That being said, I hope you understand that I lost precious sleep for a stupid car stereo sub. If I catch you...you will find out why the pool is called the abyss first hand. *mumbles under breathe*
