The mountains create their own weather - hopefully we can stay on the edge of those dark clouds

That's rain over there, But it's also dry lightning that these storms produce which is what starts forest fires in these mountains. Sit and watch the clouds and you can watch the lightning strikes. Sometimes, the rain evaporates in the hot, dry air before it hits the ground, thus the dry part.

After all day on the bikes...

Touring on bikes is not just about endless twisty roads (that's all I have to offer you) but these tours are very much a social event for all of us to spend time with each other. Some us have been touring together on these tours for over 15 years.

Randy has done over 80 tours with me.

Peter is with us from Texas on his brand new Multi-strada. It had less than 500 miles on it.

Peter says he paid over $40k cash - Beautiful bike with every available option.

Luc lives in Sonora where our Sierra Nevada Tour is based so all he had to do was run home for the night.

Notice he's on the same bike - a Ninja 1000 - same bike as yesterday but it's a different color. Yesterday was blue. Today it's red.

Yes, he has two of the same bike, but both colors. You can do that when you have 9 bikes in your garage. Luc signed up for all 17 tours I'm offering this year and he's trying to ride a different motorcycle on every tour. He's a character.

Since we're in Sonora & Luc lives in Sonora - he invited everyone over to his place for dinner so our ride today is essentially a 250 mile ride to Luc's house. (he lives just up the road). :D

Mike says ready to ride.

Headed out of Sonora - this is a gold rush town like every other town in the Sierra Nevada Foothills.
