I got mine up to 175mph while racing the Batmobile. Seriously. My SpeedoHealer is pretty close to accurate, but my Vbox under the seat is dead accurate. I've gotten a max speed of 239mph (GPS verified) out of her. And no, it's not a stock Busa. :firing:

Love to hear what you’ve done to the bike to get to 239.

This is an old thread but worth reviving I reckon.
I've seen 290kmh on the speedo once, and that was pretty scary heart racing stuff!
It was on a long lonely road with my mate on his GSXR1100J going backwards in my mirror and all I could think about was 'what if my front or rear tyre blew out???'
I was nervous, not enjoying the experience at all.

Not enjoying!?
Can't you just lean a little and do laps around NZ?

On a favorite road of mine one fine day I saw three bikes ahead so I gassed it. I passed the first two, a Honda 600 and an R6 and a moment later as I shifted into 6th at 11k I tilted my head and smiled as I passed the R1 leading the others. Not sure what my speed was but a few miles later I was stopped having a smoke and the three riders showed up. One of them asked me if I was doing 180 when I passed them. I suppose I was doing at least a hundred...:p:D

Hey great idea, I never thought of that, will give it a go next time I'm on a ride, here in NZ we can only ride for an hour before you start to see the same sheep on the side of the rode, all looking at you with a longing look

Some of the more lonely plains Indian tribes in America, having been used to buffalo, welcomed the advent of sheep...it eliminated tip toeing.;)

I remember my 2002 busa. Had it 3 months. Another rider and I got on the bikes up to 172mph. We were in left lane and wayyy up there a car moved from right lane. The car was a speck, that's how far it was. We shut down as hard as we could, so hard, the bike was shuddering from front to back and was brand new too. We almost rear ended the car. So going 172mph, the closing rate to another car is warp speed fast. I learned a very valuable life saving lesson that day and at those speeds, the closing rate happens in just a few seconds. I sold the bike shortly after that, almost brand new. Got an 09 when I got more sense.

I have had the bike to about 150-160 tops...
Same here. Don't feel bad. It all depends on the the time and the place and when the mood strikes you. 160 is about as fast as you can go and still experience the rapid acceleration. It'll go faster but it starts taking lots of time and lots of space to to gain a few mph. That makes me nervous on public roads where you never know who is watching.

I've had my 14 up to almost 180 and that was mainly inspired by the needs of self tuning. It still had more but damn --that tack was crawling. I couldn't stand it. There was a car a half mile ahead and I didn't want to fly up his ass. LOL it scared the crap out of him enough just hearing me close on him in a few seconds from a half mile away.. I'm still a bit of a poser at times but I gave up showing off warp speed. People seldom enjoy it and it makes me feel like they are imediately fishing for their cell phones to call the cops. I definitely try to not be seen by anyone when I do some speed worthy of the busa.

Only hit 188 gps verified last year with a pipe and other mods and a basic map on the PC5. Ran like crap, so that was all she had.

This thread is super old, but I’ll bite. I ride solo 99% of the time, but a coworker had bought a 750 and called me while I was out riding and asked to join. I gave him my location and joined me. We were just cruising through some straight Florida back roads and I was leading. He decides to downshift and fly by me, so I downshifted and gunned it. I got “up there” in speed and looked for him on my mirrors just to realize they had both folded on their own. That was pretty amazing feeling and the last time I tried it. I have no desire to be doing those speeds often. As of right now, my front wheel is out of balance due to the stick-on weight falling off and it vibrates when trying to go pass 100mph, but I left it like that, since is a reminder that I’m going too fast when I feel the slight vibration. LOL! I love the low end torque at take off more than flying down the road and I would like to have kids one day and can’t do it if I’m dead.
