My 12 Ga. likes cats.

Retics were always way to moody and aggressive for me...Please tell me you didn't reply to any "FREE KITTENS TO A GOOD HOME" adds.I am serious as a train wreck sir!
A 10' red tailed boa can make quick work of cat.
Did keep them from urinating on my leather though
A 13' reticulated python makes short work of them as well!!

Thing is, when constrictor type reptiles reach a certain size they require a certain size of food. A large (23 pound) snake can not feed on rats and other small mammals anymore than you or I could make a living collecting and eating mosquitos.
I suppose if I had thrown Thumper the rabbit into the habitat and had it constricted you would feel better about my level of public education? I actually did that too, but rabbits were hard to find in North Central Texas (my home at the time of my fascination with reptile husbandry) so when rabbits were in short supply, I resorted what was there. Kittys.
The cats / kittens were society's throw aways anyway - they were being given away at a grocery store parking lot and you could walk away with a whole litter of them for nothing.

Just an FYI update. I returned the cat to the rescue she came from and gave them $20 because I felt like such a crappy person. They were friendly and glad that I brought her to them as opposed to taking her somewhere and dumping her.
About the snake and the kittens thing. At first it really bothered me, it still does. But the only reason it really does is because we consider them pets. Some countries eat dogs, the dogs are specifically bred and raised for food the way our cows are. Will I ever find that acceptable? Probably not, but I decided not to comment. You guys would be surprised how intelligent rats are. A lot of people keep rats for pets and I'm sure they would be horrified if someone tried to feed their rat to a snake.

vacuums suck
You feed them to the cat, then the cat to the snake.
I was once told by someone that the only solution to deep-cleaning leather was to saturate(not soak) with VINEGAR and repeat as often as it takes to clean and de-odorize. i have never tried it. i dont own leather. (except for that whip hanging above my bed).
