Yeah well nobody thought it was for full coverage. I find it hawdabeleve that anything that goes on a public road can be insured for just .48 a day. And I have no idea what your last sentence means, it’s incomplete.
I'm in Va, and some insurance prices are ridiculous...others, not so much.
If MPH says he can insure his HD for $75...I belive him.
I insured my DRZ400 dual-sport with liability for less than that.
Full coverage on my Goldwing is $200 a year.
Full coverage on a new Busa would be around a grand, a new Gsxr1k...closer to $2k.
I hate insurance companies, biggest ripoff ever.
But here, they look at replacement value/book value of the vehicle for full coverage, and your age and record, along with the ascessed risk of the vehicle...is it an old Harley with an old rider...or a young kid on a rocket?
I bought a new Gsxr1000 in 2002, I was 25.
I bought it on a friday afternoon, called the insurance and added it, so I could legally ride it over the weekend...while I shopped around...as it was $4300 a year.
I then got it for $2600, then $1800...then they cancelled that the next day, then another place quoted $2300, and finally I had to go back to $2600.
After about 2 years, I had to sell the bike, as it cost me $9700 total, out the door, at 3.9% intrest...and I was paying over $200 a month insurance...F them...they can all burn.
They tried to charge me almost $600 a year to renew my GW this year, yes, 3 times as much...I cancelled it, did a new policy, same company, Progressive online(still the cheapest for me) ...and $200 a year again...
Insurance is a legal scam here.
I'm 48, married, good credit, clean record, motorcycle license, and commercial driver's license, and I didn't know until a few years ago that there is also an insurance credit score here, based on claims that you have filed...and mine is also perfect.
Yet, I can insure one bike for basically nothing, and the next they'll want a small fortune.
Va does not allow seasonal insurance either, and if you drop your insurance, you have to turn in your license plate(s) at the DMV, as the insurance will call them and tell them...then the DMV will suspend your license...and they suspended mine for 6 months, never notified me, and it was all their mistake, as I was insured all along...$32 later my license was reinstated...yes, I had to pay for Their mistake.
Each state has it'd own insurance laws, and some are ridiculous.
Anytime I can get it cheap, I pay it full and move along.
