Man oh man....I know you must be all torn up right now. It's like losing a family member. I'm sorry for your loss.

May Axel be in a place where he can run free to play forever w/ all his other K9 pals.:please:

thanks you guys, he was the most docile shepherd I think I have ever seen for being such a big guy, I think its hit my son the hardest sense they grew up together.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I too had to put down my best friend (same breed) a few months ago....one of the worst things I have ever done. I know where you're at and it's a really awful feeling. It gets better with time, as does everything.

Luckily we have another young Sheppherd to keep us occupied and help us heal. I highly reccomend getting another dog soon, not to replace your lost friend, but to fill the gap in your heart.

A true bummer and I dont know many who have not been thru same.
I have had to let go many myself.

Throughout the yrs I have encountered only one verse that has given me comfort in times like this.
I posted it this morn on Demmym's thread .

"Farewell, Master, Yet not farewell, Where I go, ye, too, shall dwell
I am gone, before your face, A moment's time, a little space.
When ye come where I have stepped, Ye will wonder why ye wept. "

He is waiting for you now in paradise my friend...

i am so sorry... i know how tough it is for you. think of 12 years wonderful time with him. he is in better place.

Sorry for losing a member of your fam. My shih-tzu is 13, and I am grateful whenever I open the door and he trots to me with his dance of joy. My condolences.

 very sorry to hear, makes me realize that I am not too far away from this same situation myself. I have a 14.5 year old Manchester terrier at home that I will be absolutely crushed to lose.

dude, I am sorry for your loss....they are part of the family.....condolences from mine....

Sorry to hear of your loss. Had to put down my buddy last April, think about him every day. My eyes fill typing this. It is the worst. You will see him again.
May this bring you some comfort:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

qrychefanus,
I have been there and know fully well the ache that now fills your (and your son's) heart. My deepest condolences from the bottom of my heart!

P.S. Good one Mr. Brown, thanks for sharing.
