Well, 1776 was a long time ago and at least the outcome was favorable.....I figure at the time the British were overstretched as they were everywhere in those days and probably couldn't bring the resources to bear in order to take and hold territory....similar to what would happen today if some country tried to invade a large land mass with dense population.

Not really sure what goes on in the White House and unless you are there and involved in the daily briefs or are privy to governmental interactions, I believe everything we read, hear or think is only speculation. Id imagine the job of a country leader is not an easy one for the faint of heart.

Bear in mind there is more to the government than the president and even the president has lots of layers to keep the country on track...nobody does that on their own.

The potus especially in this admin is nothing more than a puppet. The people whose names we don’t know are the ones really running the show. We know a few but not most.
As far as the left and right not uniting to fight a common enemy I wouldn’t be so sure. The only reason the left and right squabbles now is because ‘they’ want us to. The constant assaults from both sides on both sides by the media is keeping us divided and at odds. That’s exactly what they want. To put it simply they don’t want to see black people shaking the hands of white people, they don’t want to see dems sitting peacefully next to repubs. Our division keeps them in power. But never doubt that one day one simple thing may open the eyes of the populace and then both sides will easily unite against that common enemy. That is their worst fear.
I fully believe while Schumer and McConnell squabble on tv to make it look like they are working for their own sides off camera they probably toast drinks with each other and are best friends. It’s all an illusion.
And that is why eventually even the republicans turned against Trump. It’s because he was beginning to expose them for the swamp creatures they are. He was an outsider. He was a businessman. He got things done and showed how easy it was. Whereas the left and right discussed and argued and had committees forever to try to solve one thing he simply walked in and did it. Bam! Done! Next?

I don't typically get involved in talks of politics but I have some questions for @Blanca BusaLess

What is the purpose of a political party? In todays world, how can a person align with either party? The only way I can agree with either side is to take certain parts I agree with from both sides, while throwing out the things I don't agree with. There is no political party that accurately represents my viewpoints and beliefs, so how would I align with either side?

It seems to me these types of things like political parties exist solely to split the masses into opposing groups. What is the benefit of that beyond giving an avenue to funnel money to promote their parties candidate?

I am rather ignorant when it comes to politics and current events so I am legitimately looking for answers, not to argue.

I actually hadn't seen this post before my previous post. I think this post partly answers my questions.

If I may jump into this DZ........I think the majority of people are neutral and do just like you do, take snippets of either political platform but don't align themselves with either side.

This is what I personally do, I take the good from either side.

That's why I don't get why political parties exist. The whole thing confuses the hell out of me so I typically just do my own thing and don't get involved. It's so hard to have a conversation with most people about this kind of stuff without someone getting angry and I feel like that is part of the whole plan.

But I'm just a dumb guy from the midwest when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I spent so long in the military that who was in charge of any given political party meant very little to me...I still had to deploy and do my job regardless so I basically ignored such things.

I guess it is a competition and choice thing...why have more than one hockey team or brand of motorcycle....competition is important to humans.

I personally don't see a whole heck of a lot of difference between political parties...

As I said and like you said I believe they now simply exist to divide us and keep us squabbling amongst ourselves while they enrich themselves behind our backs or as we see now right in front of our faces in regards to crackhead and his dad.
Would be a good idea just have one party and call it the American Party.
I try to find the candidates who most represent my values. That’s it. And lately it’s been the republicans.
We did have a Governor down here many years ago, Lawton Chiles. He was a democrat and I voted for him. The one thing that pushed me toward him was when the press leaked out that he owned an AR15 and questioned him in a way to try to make him look bad. He answered it straight up and said ‘yes I own one. My son and I enjoy shooting it.’ There was silence after that as the reporter was stunned he didn’t deny it. That and some other things got my vote.

I'll admit, I didn't read through the whole thread and if I had, you already spoke on the points I had questions on. I felt like you had a different viewpoint than you do, and I was curious to further understand. I don't feel like I need to agree with anyone about anything really, but I do find it important to understand a persons viewpoint and hopefully learn about what caused them to think that way.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond.

Hi. Believe it or not I do not care what platform it is if they have good ideas I will vote for them.

Its starting to said in other places too... maybe they couldn't sell enough organs out of the prisoner population they hold.
Is this what happens when you keep devaluing the countries currency relative to ours?

It is my belief people align with the left are in the minority for many reasons. However... The political left has the MSM, Hollywood and a sizable part of Academia with which to influence the population. The messages coming from the left are a constant stream of lies and pandering to people that are somewhat gullible or dependent on government. As far as Dems and Pubs go... it is a mixed bag with several standouts that actually work to straighten out the predicaments we are in as a nation. Might as well call the whole political machinery landscape the "Uni Party" because the defections and corrupt practices in politics prevent most anything worth fighting for a stalemate or a lost cause. America's biggest enemies are well entrenched inside the system of governance... and this is why Trump is such a threat to the political establishment... the Left, Rinos and other 2 bit pay to play bureaucrats have big tech on their side... and they love to silence those that speak out against the left. In the political world of leftist the ends justify the means... stealing the election was their duty... its how they roll on most everything they do that the right doesn't agree with.

China sees this political warfare for what it is... they like to play the game of soft take over from within. They love Biden and don't care at all for Trump... who knows why that is?

...I don't care for Trudeau either..

When Biden told Trump to shut up, I couldn't blame him for that....I would have done the same...

Trump acted like an imbecile during the debates and more so when he lost the election and stuck out his bottom lip while he slunk away from the White House....not a drop of class in those actions at all...

Trudeau, Biden, Obama, Bush and others are all on the same team. The media attacked Trump with a veracity never seen before in politics. The Leftist Dems haven't taken a day off in 6+ years when it comes to attacking the former president and using the DOJ and FBI to do it.

Deja Vu all over again

He's definitely not an innocent lamb....he provided his enemies with all the material they needed to crucify him...

For a smart man he sure did stupid things....
