Fastest Production bike?

I think my S1000rr is faster than my busa in the quarter mile. My friends s1000rr runs 8.90 at 150 with a lengthened swingarm but otherwise stock.

YES!! The Suzuki Hayabusa is the worlds fastest production motorcycle. They claimed this title in 1999. Speed Restriction are on all production motorcycles after that.
The Hayabusa will keep that title until the remove the speed restriction law of 186MPH on motorcycles.

So actually no the hayabusa isnt the fastest production bike anymore. There are a few that go as fast.

I would certainly think the 14 is now but as of last year the bmw 1000rr was. of course how does one define fastest? 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 mile, 1/14 mile, mile, top speed, traffic light to traffic light, etc....

If you take a factory stock 2012 sample of each of the current top 3, The Hayabusa, the ZX-14R, and the S1000RR. Sadly, the Hayabusa would place 3rd in a 0-60 or 1/4 mile race. It sure was nice being the king for awhile.....but remember, even Elvis died.

The keyword here is "fastest" NOT quickest..

The Suzuki Hayabusa (or GSX1300R) is a sport bike motorcycle made by Suzuki since 1999. It immediately won acclaim as the world's fastest production motorcycle, with a top speed of 188 to 194 miles per hour (303 to 312 km/h).

Hayabusa (隼?) is Japanese for "peregrine falcon", a bird that often serves as a metaphor for speed due to its vertical hunting dive, or stoop, speed of 180 to 202 miles per hour (290 to 325 km/h), the fastest of any bird.[6][7] In particular, the choice of name was made because the peregrine falcon preys on blackbirds,[8] which reflected the intent of the original Hayabusa to unseat the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the world's fastest production motorcycle.[9][10][11] Eventually, the Hayabusa managed to surpass the Super Blackbird by at least a full 10 miles per hour (16 km/h).[4][12]

In 2000, fears of a European regulatory backlash or import ban[13][14][15] led to an informal agreement between the Japanese and European manufacturers to govern the top speed of their motorcycles at an arbitrary limit.[16]

The media-reported value for the speed agreement in miles per hour was consistently 186 mph, while in kilometers per hour it varied from 299 to 303 km/h, which is typical given unit conversion rounding errors. This figure may also be affected by a number of external factors,[17] as can the power and torque values.[18]

The conditions under which this limitation was adopted led to the 1999–2000[2][3] Hayabusa's title remaining, at least technically, unassailable, since no subsequent model could go faster without being tampered with.[19] Thus, after the much anticipated[20][21][22] Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R of 2000 fell 4 mph (6 km/h) short of claiming the title, the Hayabusa secured its place as the fastest standard production bike of the 20th century.[23][24][25] This gives the unrestricted 1999–2000[2][3] models even more cachet with collectors.[26]

Besides its speed, the Hayabusa has been lauded by many reviewers for its all-around performance, in that it does not drastically compromise other qualities like handling, comfort, reliability, noise, fuel economy or price in pursuit of a single function.[5][27][28] Jay Koblenz of Motorcycle Consumer News commented, "If you think the ability of a motorcycle to approach 190 mph or reach the quarter-mile in under 10 seconds is at best frivolous and at worst offensive, this still remains a motorcycle worthy of just consideration. The Hayabusa is Speed in all its glory. But Speed is not all the Hayabusa is."[27]

The Gen II's will exceed 186 according to wiki and one of my friends that told me his topped out around 193, just saying. Loyalty is one thing but I have a feeling that the new 14 kicks our :moon:

I thought I heard that the BMW had no restriction, and was faster than the 14 and the Gen 2. Not that it matters.. At least to me anyway. I don't need bragging rights.. I just love to ride.

How many people see their bikes fastest capabilities anyway? I think the 14 is more powerful now. Hopefully The next Busa upgrade will be a 1507.

I think the voluntary top end restrictor is a Japan-only thing. I don't believe that the European manufacturers restrict thier machines. YMMV.

The difference between the Busa and the others is that suuki performed hours of wind tunnel testing while being at top speeds so they can have a stable bike.I think the faster these go the more stable they are or at least that how I understood it.

The 14 definitely has the power and will be fast, maybe faster under conditions and certain tracks...but I have to wonder if their top end is going to run into aerodynamic issues or if they have also improved on that~?~

If so, it might be one credibly bad mutha

have you seen the front end of a ZX.That thing is in no way aerodynamic.I am sure its fast but stable is the question.I know when i am cruising about 75 on the highway, I dont get much of any wind except up by my helmet.

:deadhorse: does it really matter? i mean this has been brought up a ton of times..splitting hairs because there is so many things you need to take into account. buy what you like doesn't matter cause all that splits these bikes are how much sake you have to keep it pinned before other guy lets off...only a few of us will do it or ahve the sack to...just my 2 cents

The fastest stock production bike on the street, will be any of the current superbikes, provided Casey Stoner is riding it.

bmw s1000rr is still the fastest.

What I wonder is how the new Ducati 1199 will compete, I think it will be right up there with the top 3..

edit - after doing some reading it looks like the new Ducati will be faster than the s1000rr from BMW..... Damn, Hayabusa is going to be bumped to 4th place now...
