2025 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

This is the kit I bought:

The advertisement for the kit kept popping up on my Facebook feed and I bookmarked the link for quite awhile. And it kept popping up on my feed over and over with pics of the red kit. Wasn't a big fan of the stock '22 black. I've had three blue Hayabusas and Monster will custom paint a set of fairings any color you want so I seriously considered doing a blue kit. Monster actually advertises about 30 different shades of blue on their site but the red pictures in the advertisement looked so good.

The kit fits together really well and I had zero issues on the install. I took the stock black off and put each piece side by side and transferred all the fasteners and bolts piece-by-piece. I ordered all the itty bitty things from Partzilla. The kit does come with all the small stuff, like all these little stick on foam pieces that stick on the inside of the plastic fairing pieces.

The one mistake I made is the monster site gives you the option to order an extra layer of clear coat and I didn't do that. I should have. The paint job scratches easy on some parts like the dash panels. The side panels seem to have a thicker layer of clear coast and don't do that. The Monster kit also does not come with any decals except the kanji on the side so I ordered every single sticker/decal from Partzilla and put them on just like a stock bike. I kept the two stock gold pieces as an accent color, and then added the stock gold back to the hump. In two years, I'll have 60,000 miles on this bike in two years, and already planning to get a 5th Hayabusa if we get some decent colors in the next couple of years. A blue Gen3 would be nice.

Thanks for all the details, Tim! Glad to hear they are doing well in case I decided to change things up down the road.

The Ride to Parkfield

A few days before the ride... yes, it's April in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. I'm at 1300 ft and not quite high enough for snow, but we do get a nice hail storm once a year.

I used to live at 3000 ft and this is what it was like coming home from tours in March.

Just never know and the mountains create their own weather. Wife and I sold our little house in Camino and moved down the hill a bit few years back, no more snow to deal with.

4:30 am departure to make it down to the SF Bay Area to the meet spot.

Temps in the 40s for the ride down, crank up the heated jacket, all good. Bit of this to warm me up...

All the fellas are waiting for me when I reach Saratoga in the South Bay, Randy, Jeff, Paul, Bruce.

We've all been riding together on these tours for the last 10-15 years. Always warm fuzzies seeing the fellas again.

Cathy is joining us on this ride too, Cathy signed up for her first Pashnit Tour in 2011 - 14 years ago. She's been riding motorcycles since she was a teenager and owns a 500 acre ranch in Southern California.

Randy seems to have gone completely gray in a single year, a year ago, he had a long brown ponytail, then his hair all fell out and grew back gray.

Headed up Highway 9 out of Saratoga, it's super twisty to the top of the range and then continues along the top of the ridge to Big Basin SP.

Highway 236 is a loop road off the main highway that loops into and out of the state park, but it goes single lane and weaves through the redwood forest, it was repaved a few years ago and is pure fun. Just watch the wet spots. ;) No other traffic on the road this early in the morning, we have the entire road to ourselves.

Although the Clearwater Lights are so bright behind me, all I see are lights in my mirrors.

Just about all our tour alumni run Clearwater Lights for touring.

Such an epic journey every time to go out. You, Sir, have truly built a passion in to a rewarding career!! One day, I hope to be on one of your trips!

Forest fire came through the park in August 2020 and burnt the redwood forest, but they are growing back.

All the redwood trees are covered in a green fuzz while recovering from the fire.

And who bought a KTM?

Bruce only does cruisers , and not just any cruisers, but always on a Victory for the last 15 years that we've been riding together.
