OK lots of mods this year. This was the year of electonics.

Follow me now....

First up is the Blinder M-20 X-treme Laser jammer. I got this in combination with the Escort 8500 X50 Radar Detector (Red) from radarbusters.com as part of a special: $604 for both of them. I picked these up in conjunction with the Legal Speeding HARD unit for another $165.

I also picked up a zero gravity SR (Stock replacement) clear windscreen from kneedraggers.com for $64.

Now, I had the rear Blinder laser sensor ziptied inside the trunk as I will hook this up next year (custom fab project...you'll see...). I hooked the front sensor up under the windscreen with the passport radar detector right above it. I had the clear windscreen painted red, but left a hole for both the jammer and detector to see through. In the rear, I had a fiberglass box custom built to enclose these units and hide them from the elements (and theft). It is bonded to the rear of the windscreen and is not removable without taking out the windscreen. There is also a clear window on it to see the escort display and for the rear radar/laser sensor.

I installed the HARD unit in my helmet's cheek pad. I just cut a hole in the bottom and a small one in the top. I plan on buying a new helmet this year so I wasn't too neat on the cuts, but it does the trick.

How permanent is the box for your detector? If you have a problem with it, do you have to destroy the windshield to get it out? Also, nice Chopper Key. Haven't seen many of those around lately!

Next up is the HID lights...whoops forgot to put that in the title of the post. Oh well, I probably couldn't fit it in there. :o)

I got a McCulloch H7 6000K HID low beam and a McCulloch 9005 6000K HID hi beam for $340 from Xenonking.com as part of the neverending group buy. I have bought HID headlights for my car from them and now for my bike. I highly recommend them as they have great customer service and excellent prices.

Anyways I got the 6000K because I wanted the brightest light I could get...but I wanted it to be noticable...hence a small blueish tinge. Believe me I have read enough posts by Iceman to tell me to get the 5000K, but I figured the 6000K was the best of both worlds...superbright and just different enough to attract motorists attention.

However to make my bike my own, I painted the headlight reflectors red to match the bike. (I painted the headlight reflectors on my car black to match the color scheme after I added the HIDS to it, so I did the same to my bike). My theory is that aftermarket HIDs blind people because it is reflected off the reflector (which was meant for stock lights). Painting the reflectors will cause less blinding and will just allow the light to beam forward. (It still reflects a little light, but I don't think its enough to blind people.) No matter how you look at it, it is better than putting a red tint over my headlight or a red perforated vinyl, as this still allows for all of the light output in the beam.

Hehe, I got lots more to post, but I'll take a sec to answer you.

Unfortunatly my bike fell over in the trailer taking it home from the place. The windscreen is broken and I must redo everything. The fiberglass box is epoxyed to the windscreen. I must find away to break that bond so it can be trasferred to a new windscreen.

So, the windscreen and box can be taken off together. To take the box off, the windscreen will be destroyed. I just hope that the box will not be destroyed so I can transfer it over.
