Opinions on Radar Detectors and all.

I have an escort passport 8500 x50 in my car and love it. It works VERY well. I don't have the jammer, but the detector works well. The laser portion of it isn't very good, but you're pretty much screwed with a laser no matter what you have. As some of the other guys have said, it has a very small beam, so it's hard to detect. But I've detected radar at a distance of about a mile and a half. And that's in town with lots of cars, trees, a few buildings, etc. between me and the cop. I've read on either radar busters or radar testers that on flat, open road like out in arazona and other places like that, that the x50 was at half alert 9 miles away from the radar. That's pretty dang good in my book.

I have an escort 8500. I have used it on my motorcycle for 3 years. Hard wired to my stem stand and used with a radio shack earphone its performance is amazing. I was tagged 5 years ago @ 130 and the ticket was brutal. All you have to do is be committed to the beep and bleed off speed when you hear it. I cant drive 65...can you???

More and more states are starting to talk about making radar detectors illegal, VA and some others have already outlawed them, Florida is talking about it. So you may want to consider a detector that cannot be detected by a radar detector detector, I think Beltronics just came out with one.

What kind of ear phone do you have for your's? I've been wanting to get one, but haven't found one yet that would work well with being under a helmet. Is it wireless? What's the brand name and stuff? There's a radio shack about 5 min. from my house, so I might have to ride by on the way home from work.
