Busa setting of radar detector?

I've had some odd experiences since I hardwired by radar detector to the busa that I haven't on any other bike I've had it on.

It seems like when I'm starting out from a stop, shifting, etc. up until about 3rd gear the laser warning goes off...

I know it sounds weird, but I can pretty much duplicate that any time... Doesn't seem to be throttle related, just 1-2 and maybe third gear the laser band goes nuts. I've only had the laser go off once, and that was years ago in the car.

It is an older detector... probably about 10 years old. A uniden.. maybe it's time to replace it?

I have a bell RX65 (supposedly one of the best, better than the escort 8500) in my Nissan Titan now.. but I can't bring myself to using it on the busa too since it's pretty expensive...

I doubt anyone has had similar experiences, but I'm am curious.

BTW, it is hardwires into the european headlight socket. In case that makes any difference (I doubt it)

I never had that problem and mine is hardwired into the bike also. Maybe it has something to do with the voltage drop whilst going through the lower gears. Mines connected directly to the battery. I have the Escort 8500 X50, which I can say many would argue about which is better between it and the RX65. After alot of research I

went with the escort because it had some features the RX didn't. But all in all they are pretty much equal.

Sounds to me you need to keep it at WfOT all the time then?? Problem solved!

I have a similar problem but not with the bike.

On my Lincoln Navigator, when under full pedal to the floor acceleration, there is a point when the LASER warning goes off. Its pretty "alarming", as the laser warning on the passport 8500X50 is very loud.

However, when I put the older 8500 in that vehicle, it is not a problem...So I keep the 8500X50 on the busa.

I have not had an RPM related laser warning on the busa...only when in the Navigator.

Dont know why.
