Dude your going to listen to a CNN fuggin Article?  Are you simple?  WTF?  I read this tripe this morning... You tell me just how the Fug a "Sportbike" is going to "Cut Off" an Explorer in a manner that forces them off the road.  This is nothing but the same ANTI fuggin Sportbike hype we've been dealing with.

The Suburban tumbled down an embankment, ejecting most of its eight occupants. Five people in that vehicle were seriously injured; the other three sustained lesser harm. the stunt crew I video for RARELY takes anything to the streets. I see it like most things: there's good an bad everywhere: I hate it when people DRINK and wreck their marriages, and their cars, and kill others... and WE are socked by their mistakes in Insurance too. the only way to fix our insurance is to turn stunters into the police and prove to insurance, that us NON stunters are a lot safer than that crowd. silly part is, stunters mostly dont bother with insurance... or licences.. or soemtiems registrations, so they are just criminals that the insurance companies should not take into consideration. people who kill with guns affect gun carriers rights.... the bully who cuts in line at the drinking fountain wrecks that activity etc etc

So what should WE do about street stunters? How can we help the insurance companies see the light?

I say we find and show them our spotless driving record in car and on bike, TELL them to give us better rates because we are NOT deadly stunters, and if they don't, we'll find an insurance company that WILL respect us properly. Are ya with me?

Could not agree more!!!   If this street stunting BS does not stop, soon it will be impossible for ANYONE to get insurance.  I speak from experience, I have been in the insurance industry for 28 years!  These dumb ass squids are making it hard on all sport bike riders.  Keep the stunting to the track or other controlled area, and quit endangering the general public!  If the street stunting does not stop, owning a sport bike may become a distant memory!

Seriously, I was wondering why there was little mention of what happened to the biker, but I'm banking on the fact that he/she DID cause an SUV to swerve...hey, if I'm riding in a BIG ASS truck, and a motorcyclist swerves in my lane or looks like he's going to cross my path while doing something stupid, I'll swerve to avoid killing him.  It's just reflexes, and my vote is for people not really looking to kill sport bikers.

Isn't it possible that a bunch of stunters created some havoc and fled the scene unharmed?  Why is that so hard to swallow given that we all jump on a cager's sh*t for doing a lot of the same to us?  Not everything is a conspiracy...sometimes dumb people do dumb things...stunters do need to take it off of the streets with traffic around...'nuff said...

You know what video I would LOVE to buy? [Listening Hollywood?] I'd love to buy a video of PROFESSIONAL stunters, do PROFESSIONAL STUNTS, designed and setup on closed sets! Even road sets, like the Matrix's mile long highway loop! You could do SO MUCH cool stuff, in there for the heck of it: Have a guy leap off a moving bike into the trunk of a car, wheelie swerving tween fixed position movine vehicles - following with a road level cam, have two bikers switch bikes at 80mph..... SETUP some GOOD LIVE stunts, not CG crap.... film it in quality, sell it with some style.

I'm sick of low quality, underground video crap. I want good wuality stuff!

I am with you there. Stunt Wars here in Lakeland was Badass, all sorts of teams and a whole lot of fammiliar faces. Awesome to see live, but yeah, the Porn Industry video technique is lacking. It'll shape up though, there was some quality camera work being done at stunt wars.

The first part of the article was not really stunting but bad riding..  I agree about not stunting in packs or in traffic or areas with people, it should not be done.  More accidents happen due to bad judgment and pushing the bike to its limitits, then we call all of that stunting.

I have no empirical evidence to support my contention, but I'd hazard a guess that bike crash statistics are affected much more by stunnas than by mature, responsible street riders who occasionally push the performance envelope of their respective machines.

I wear gear, have a decade and one half of riding experience under my belt, recently attended a track school, and use good judgement in terms of when and where I ride in a spirited fashion.

I differentiate between riding hard and stunting. I'd hope others would too. Apples v. oranges IMHO.

I have over 3 decades of riding experience, and agree with a lot of what you have to say, but I see it every day STUPID BAD RIDERS far out score stunters. I do think that stunters add to this, but your weeked warrior bike riders, your very inexperienced riders and your ust plan no business even being on a bike far out strip the accident ratios.

My bad.  I don't mean to sound like I am raging violently against the individual, mostly I just find certain Ideas abhorrent.  One of these is the idea that the media reports the truth.      

  It's frustrating to me when a fellow biker or bikers buy into articles like this.  If this had taken place about 5 years ago it would have never been in any newspaper or BS CNN source.  It wouldn't be news at all.  But the "Scourge" of the streets right now is the "EVIL SPORTBIKE RIDER", the "Terror Of the STREETS" on and on, it's a load of hype and BS, just to sell, just to be sensational.  This is especially true coming from CNN.  You figure of all the stories on the AP wire CNN latched onto this simply because of the HYPE.  
 
 You figure that the person driving the Explorer has probably watched the Sensational journalism on a tabloid news show.  Hell they were probably already scared before the bikes actually got close.  I think the media, and the sway it holds over the typical American Lamb is powerful enough to cause this sort of OVER reaction.  Yeah I said Lamb, as in sheep as in be sure everyone flocks together and thinks the same, and does the same things, and smiles and nods when handed a pile of crap and asks for more.  I think folks have all but abandoned reason, and common sense.  Thinking for yourself is quite out of favor nowadays.

Yes all of that is all possible and could happen. The key is COULD HAVE. It could be stunters or it coud be a pack of wild stupid riders. My point is people viewing this think stunt instead of bad judgment. Then before you know it we ae all stunters. Bad rides and ad judgment is far more rampid then stunters. Stunters have more flash so tha is what people see.

AMEN, Brutha REV! To be honest, I quit watching media years ago and have never been happier. I was just thinking how, if opdsgt did not have access to that news item, his blood pressure would be that much lower. If it happened infront of him, yeah worry about his kids, this was on another side of the nation. The only effect on him was to piss him off - that's all NEWS really does for anybody. There's stuff that goes on ALL THE TIME that we DON'T know about, and it never hurts us or brings us down. Media is from SATAN!

Forget the hype of the article for a moment and realize that as riders of the sporting variety bike we've all seen irresponsibility
in this area and therein is the problem. Irresponsibility is never a good thing and when it takes the form of a high-powered sport bike it's a very bad thing! Irresponsibility is always to be discouraged and even more so is we wish to continue to enjoy motorcycling of the form we all love so dearly...
