Recent chain of events at the Org.

:drama: I'm so not a :kissass: I'll probably end up getting banned sooner or later....It's just my nature to buck the rules.....

When I look back in life and think about the dozens of motorcycles I've owned and modified, I'm reminded that....because of the depth of knowledge on this org....my familiarization with ALL aspects of Hayabusas took about ONE TENTH the time compared to my earlier motorcycles.
Besides that, I have made some wonderful friends soley because this org exists.
Last Summer I had the pleasure of meeting, socializing and riding with Cap and friends and learned, with or without Hayabusas, he is a truely great guy and am honored to know him.
I'm not kissing any hinney, I have a great and busy life....just don't need to suck up to anyone(except wife when I need a toy)....but it just needs to be said that, if you don't have a preexisting person to person relationship with someone, a lot can be misinterpreted with JUST electronic communication.
And one final point....as to how much fun you have, some say fun comes from within way more than external sources. I know whenever I'm bummed about someone/something, I can make it go away by looking inside, not out there.

I for one, got tired of all the crap posts. I have no problem with the rules, but as anywhere, not everyone will view the actions of the mods as 'fair' for one reason or another.

Maybe it's time I take another look at the board. It did get to the point where there were so many attacks, that I thought it was worthless to post a response because then the attacks would be directed at me no matter which side I stood on and I don't need that crap.

I hope they get rid of all the abusive posts, yet keep some of the junk posts. Some are pretty good and entertaining.

I also hope the board doesn't go to a G rating. I agree it's a family site and we shouldn't have and R rating either - maybe a PG-13. I mean dang, sometimes certain slang words just fit the situation better. :)

How many days until the Spring Bash? :beerchug:

You have to take the garbage out once in a while or your house will stink!

1.) I agree with much of what you are saying here.. personal attacks should be dealt with swiftly and harshly. They are not allowed on any board I frequent.

2.) I wish the admin would NOT delete abusive posts... just INFRACT those that attack. Then..the rest of the community can see what is and is not acceptable. Kinda like a public hanging ya know?

3.) Although I respect Caps attempt to keep this site "G" rated.. we are adults here. I understand he attempts to keep this a "family friendly" site.. what is wrong with keeping it real? If our kids view some of the content here...do you really think it could be half as bad as the stuff they see/hear at school? C'mon... not a chance.

2.) (again) I agree with not removing the fun stuff...not to sound like a broken record.. but laughter is what keeps us young. If I laugh when I visit a site... I'm gonna come back. The sterile, boring, info only sites are the ones I only visit when I'm lookin for something in particular.. it's not where I want to hang my hat to BS with others..'cause in that case, the "others" are neutered to an extent where all the humor and fun are removed. Why stay somewhere where you can't say what you think..? (as long as it is not directly flaming someone else...)

** off topic; Who was the brain surgeon that decided to remove "junk" posts from select members post count? My God... one of the most childish decisions I've heard of on a forum....EVER. Don't care who made THAT call...it was just plain stupid, and non-productive.

Anyway...

I am a Christian. Raised with very conservative values.. but I do swear on occasion. I think some situations call for certain words... some words that end up as a *** here. Again... words that our kids hear every day in school.

But ya know what... all this conversation is about the rules of Hayabusa.org. Rules that have been in place since it's inception. The RULES are not what this latest issue revolves around. The current problem is caused (IMO) from a combination of factors;

1.) Some members whining about stuff that should not matter. ie; an avatar of a female attempting to swallow a beer bottle.. Tell me... what is (directly) vulgar about this? C'mon people... get a freakin life.
2.) Right, wrong, or indifferent; the perception of many members that admins are, at times hypocritical. ie; do what I say...not what I do.3.) The "old dog" network.. some folk just seem to get away with stuff others get slapped for.

I've said it once.. I'll say it again.. CONSISTENCY.

Cap, admin, mods... we know you are not perfect. All we ask is the same treatment to everyone.

Oh... sorry..but please no more butt kissing or thread jacks in this thread. I started this thread because I care about this site. I've seen plenty of sites bite the big one.. Look around.. lots of GOOD people don't post here anymore.

You've gotta wonder why....

Gotta agree with with Mark on this one.

A forum is a cross section of humanity and I will say Marks comments are spot on above. Common folks, we are adults here, we need to be real about the way in which this site is treated. This site is not about children and what they can or can not see on this site. If it was, most of us would not be hear. I am sorry, this is a site about Hayabusa motorcycles and people who share an appreciation for this bike...and guess what? That core group is adults.

We are cut from many different fabrics and bring to the site many different values, but no where do I remember that we are a children's site. If folks are so concerned about what their kids are seeing it might do well to remember that this is an adult activity and when you get adults together they will carry on adult conversations and again, guess what? Adult jokes, innuendos and words will be spoken. I don't think a post needs to sound like a Navy Chiefs Goat Locker, but to think that complete sterilization adds something of value is also a disservice.

I love children, but I don't come here to hang out and talk about children's issues. We run around life trying to make things child safe and protect them from the "real" world. Geeze louis...look what happened to Vegas when some braniac got the great idea that casinos needed to be a family play land. Yes it worked for a while, but what happened?? Casino's started loosing money and they realized that their business was for GROWN UPS.

If you want to corner folks into a mold of how you want them to think, speak, act you have that right to do so, this is not my house and I do not make the rules, however, I am a participating member and do have a right to state my feelings. While no one is disputing rules here, there is a strong perception that a strangle hold is being placed on the site and IT IS driving members to drop from the site and in many cases simply go back to lurking. Knee jerk reactions to situations is never the right move, it may solve one type of problem, but it can lead to other problems that were not foreseen.

I'm diggin this productive discourse..and...I endorse this message:laugh:

It's good to see that members are speaking up about their feelings, this is how people reach an understanding about things. I commend you both for your honesty and clarity about your feelings and concerns..ironically THIS is the heart of the Org...some gentle ribbing, some honesty, some fun and concern over and FOR all. I am keenly interested to see how this discourse is going to develop, therefore, as you see, I will keep reading it, and look forward to more productive comments from members...gezz I hope I don't sound like Cap! that's not my intent..I'm just glad this is looking productive...at least to me anyways...Hey E! I hear you may be in the Fla for bike weekay?:laugh:(side note)

it seems like you cant post reply to all people - was denied posting to two people but have no idea why ?????

Well, as far as I can tell, no one is advocating a rated G site, just a respectful one. No vulgarity, no need for the F word, and whether some like it here or not, 10,000 pages of smilies and then so many good topics going completely south with a ton of ??? and  gets old. If guys here are truly THAT upset over post counts, perhaps we should turn 'em off. They don't matter. I lost some in the recent changes, but who cares? Funny, we've been called "a bunch of 8 year olds" here this week, and then we have those same members crying about a post count? Ironic...

No one here needs to spell out what's wrong with a photo of that gal and a beer bottle. It was vulgar and whether some agree with that assessment or not is irrelevant; it only ended up here after on a dare elsewhere in cyberspace and that speaks VOLUMES. Seriously, everyone here knows what that action references so trying to blur that line is just childish.

So tell me, exactly where is the "fun" being denied here? We want respectful exchanges, fun and less drama. I guess I don't see why that is so hard to understand.

I guess I'm not too bright--I'm not understanding the issues here. I first joined this place back in '06 when I got my first 'busa. I wanted a place where I could learn new stuff from folks that knew more than I did. And you know what?--this place really filled the bill for me. I've learned LOTS and will continue to learn new things everytime I get on here. As far as the drama goes--I choose not to participate in that. I get enough of that at home!! So, for me, I still like it here and I'll continue to log on and see what's new!

Thank you all for your opinions. That is what helps make this a great site. Opinions and dialog instead of "My way or you are an idiot, and I will tell you so in 45 ways"

Rules?
I have to follow rules now?

Geez....

I have learned here, met great people here, established life-long friends here, and even buried dear friends I met here.

I have a unique view since I share my habitat with a moderator here. I can tell you, some people take this place WAY TOO SERIOUSLY! Its like..... a HUGE part of their life and social existence... THAT, I cant even fathom from a full grown adult!

Its Doug's board and he wants it cle** (that's clean for the star impaired)! If you post something unclean, its out of line. Its THAT simple. I know the mods here and every one of them are sound, understanding people that I'd trust to watch my children. Not perfect, but certainly sound people trying to keep Doug's board clean and free of offense.

I am no psychologist but anyone who gets REALLY upset about anything on any message board, should power down the computer and go GET A HOBBY!

Dare you to say that to my face Randy..:poke: and i am NOT baby sitting your kids!
