Question on my busa.

Last night was the fate and end of my 2001 busa. 6,777 miles on it. Not kidding....

Short story, had way too much fun, went hot into a corner, caught a "paint arrow" and down she went sliding straight into the curb @ 45mph

Cracked the frame @ the tripple clamp area, right through the weld. Forks are bent. Front plastics are semi ok for a "painters" set, but the right lower is hopeless.  From the motor and rearward is 99.5% A-OK, except for scratches and missing 3 out of 4 pegs.

Anyone think it would be best off to sell it whole, part it out or rebuild her ?

Pics are HUGE. No 56k

Glad you are well enough to post this! That said:
What kind of insurance do you have (I mean to aks if you have collision) are you covered for this accident?
If not, I recommend trying to part it out to get something out of it. Hard to say though without seeing pics.

Sorry to hear, but glad you're ok (assume you are). Clueless about the question, but lots of knowledgeable people here.

Not qualified to answer the questions, but I'm sorry to hear about the Busa

and I'm just glad you're here to tell us about it...

Best of luck and I hope you'll be back on two wheels before too long...

My pride is SEVERERLY injured (as with anyone's wreck it would be)... However I escaped with bruises, scratches, a shattered ego, and perhaps a bit more the wise.

The bike was purchased as a salvage, and MY ins company wouldn't go full coverage. So Liability and Property is all it had coverage for.

pics are uploading to my FTP now, should be live in about 5 minutes.  THANKS for the fast replies and well wishes fella's.

Sorry for the mishap bro. My bike looked worse after the lowside in May of last year (racetrack, 110 mph). I only have liability. After some ebay shopping, some dealer, some used, etc. - all in all around $1200 she was fixed.

I think your main problem is the frame - everything else is doable either via ebay, or xtremesuzuki.com on Bellair, OH (they have excellent prices, service, and shipping).

Besides the frame issue, all you need is forks, pegs, maybe stator cover, and a few other small things.

Don't know if it's possible to weld the frame. If you could find a reputable welder, especially the one who frequently works on bikes, and let him take a look at her, he may have an opinion.

Because of the frame it's a tough call.

There is a guy by the speedway in Indy that will weld it for around 300 bucks.

Any thoughts on sale value ?

KBB puts it on trade in @ $4700, Retail @ $6800. Does have a renegade dual high mount, full system, and a PCIIIusb on it. It's already a salvage title (that's another story.....)

I really don't want to weld the frame, I'd never feel the same on it... As for buying a new/used frame, forks, plastics, pegs, misc odds n ends... I could pick up a nice used busa for roughly the same amount of cash, and probably better off mechanically.

first sorry to see your bike all busted up.. but glad that you are ok. I think it comes down to if you want to do some work on it yourself or do you want to just junk it and buy another one. If the front end and frame is the worst of the damage then i would think about buying those things and rebuilding it yourself... if time and/or money is an issue just part it out and get another one.

That looks fixable.

It's already salvage title so no worries there. Hope on eBay, and price out what you need to make it road worthy.

Otherwise, eBay will love that bike if you want to part it piece by piece and try to recoup your costs.

If i were to wright the estimate, at the shop i work at part time. The bike would be total loss. Any time there is frame cracks, most insurance companys will total the bike. Of course if, it was an 06, the answer might be different answer. Since its a salvage allready your looking at a hefty repair bill.
One thing to think about, with the forks bent i would replace the tripple clamps also.???

Heres a frame on ebay

Thanks for the comments guys. I have 3 people interested in picking up the remains. PLUS my VFR is selling today too! So looks like a new busa will be in the garage by the middle of next month!!
