I hit a deer going 60 and it exploded. (Hunting with a 500lb bullet.)

So I'm going down the highway at night doing about 70 mph when a deer darts in front of me. I hit the rear end of it and get thrown over the windshield. The deer remains fall to the ground and I continue to slide down the road. First on my back then rotate to my front. I see the bike continue to slide on it's side down the road. As soon as I stop sliding I get up and run to the shoulder. Lucky for me because a car behind me doesn't see the wreck and speeds through running over the deer carcass ripping up the undercarriage of her car. Ambulance came, took me to the hospital on the base, scrubbed out the wounds on my knees without being kind enough to give me any pain meds and sent me on my way.

Damage: Overall the deer is dead and I'm alive so Deer-0 Me-1. Got road rash on my knees from wearing through pants. Luckily with jacket/gloves/helmet no other injuries. As for the bike it still starts up but crack in the radiator leaks coolant when it warms up. Cosmetic wise both side fairings, front fairings, back passenger plastic, headlight and blinkers, broken clutch lever, and scuff on left cover.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Tylenol helps for the pain during the day. A few stiff drinks a night. In couple weeks you should feel better.

Take it easy over New Years!

Man that sucks!! Same bike I have. Hope you get better soon and happy to see you posting

Dam rats! Glad you can post , but you need to have the bike checked, hard to believe the forks didn't get damaged from that impact and an inspection of frame would be a good idea

glad to hear you made it through that in one unbroken piece! hope you heal quickly :beerchug:

I am always looking out of them when I ride at night. Glad to hear you made it with minor injuries. All that blood on the bike is going to suck cleaning off.
