We could be 1-2 years away from literbikes good enough to commute on, do trackdays, short touring and take an occasional run down the drag strip. The S1000RR is pretty damn close to that already.

The challenge the Busa has is it already costs $13K. Most people buy it planning another $2K of upgrades day one, so really it's a $15k bike. The only basic weakness on the bike stock IMHO is brakes, so add $1200 worth of ABS and now the bike is really a $16.2K investment. I can't think of anything else they could do to the bike to make it more attractive. I few more ponies is always welcome, but the engine is awesome now for all but the craziest and the aesthetics are iconic. What do you change and more importantly what do you change to make it better (faster?) than the literbike choices?

My feelings are you better hold onto your Busa because they might go the way of the muscle car - incredible machines built to exist outside the rules that dominated in an era gone by. When you think about it, being king for 10+ years in the motorcycle world is an astonishing acheivement. Doing it with a platform that has had only evolutionary updates during that time says the bike was one of the best designs ever in the first place.

I might get another bike, but the Busa stays in the garage forever.

Yep my busa won't be going anywhere....but neither will my Trans Am. They might both be from an era soon to be (or already) gone, but they're both still a MAJOR blast to ride/drive   and I've always ran a little bit old school

Busa will never leave my possession either. This is my 2nd one. From GEN I to GEN II. BMW for their cars, not for bikes. If I want a cruiser the M109R is my #1 choice. Their 540I M Sport was definitely a treat and full respect to that for the german engineering.

thats my .02. Long live the Busa. will always be king! :beerchug:

Go over the BMW forum and ask.

Seriously, as long as your Busa is reliable, why spend the money trying to keep up with the Joneses?

Personally, I have the impression that the Busa is a better all-around bike. Is the few tenths of a second the BMW may have over the Busa really worth the expense? These top-end bikes are probably so close in performance that the difference in performances attained by each is within the "noise" of the test being conducted.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the BMW is butt ugly? I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and yes, I am beholding:rofl:) but the offset lights and mis-matched side fairings are hard to get over. It almost looks like they had a bike that was basically normal and then tried to give it wacky looks to distinguish it. BMW is so conservative with the cars but they make some aesthetically challenged motorbikes don't you think chaps?

The bike does look retarded, but it is the king for now.It will have a bunch of bandwagon jumpers witch is cool.Kawasaki has a new zx10 on the way and you KNOW suzuki has something up its sleeve. So how long do you think bmw has to enjoy its moment in the sun.Bmw enjoy your 10mins of fame cause with-in a year or so it will be irrelevant!
