Another thing that is good to cook is pulled pork. It is almost fool proof. I will buy a package of pork butts at Sam's for about $1.35/lb. Cover it with a rub call yard bird cook at 225 until it is 195° then let rest for a couple of hours. Once the testing is done shred it and then cover it with Tennessee red sauce. One warning is it take me about 20 hours to cook
 
Separate point and flat
Smoke at 225 for 6 hours, spray with Apple juice every hour
Remove from smoker wrap add a little beef stock and wrap tightly with aluminum foil.
Return to smoker you can raise the temp to 300. Insert a meat thermometer to feel the resistance for a reference. Then check the resistance every hour until it inserts easily, maybe something like butter resistance. I don't know how to describe it but you will know. It could be anywhere from 2-4 hours for this last phase depending on the size of the brisket and temp
