Up the road is Badwater, where all tourists go.

Tradition to walk out onto the salt flats a ways and walk back. Temps are a cool mid-80s here.

Halfway up the rock face is the sea level sign. Andrew says okay, far enough, seen it. Done it.

A few months after we came here last year & a few months later in June 2021, Death Valley hit 130 degrees to claim the title hottest place on earth.

A few miles up the road is Artist's Drive. A single lane road through a small canyon.

Few more turns, and we pop out of the canyon back into Death Valley

Nearby is Furnace Creek, the center of Death Valley

Had no intention of fueling up here. It was 6.36 just up the road at Stovepipe Wells. Why it's $2/gallon less 25 miles up the road we'll never know.

But the picture is worth it.

Days end, headed back to base camp

End of day's ride, time for ice cream

Riding together has a lot of sharing stories and telling lies.
Phil and I have been riding together on these tours for over ten years.

Day 3 is my solo ride home. My plan was a 13 hour day on the Hayabusa headed up the side of the Eastern Sierra, then over the range.

5 am departure. Spring Forward Fall Back meant it was really 4am.

An hour later, the very first dim glow of sunrise. Yes, that's the Sierra Range in the distance.

Phil took the same photo a few hours after me on the same road.

One year prior I had been in search of an art installation recently built into the middle of Owens Lake.

But this year, I rode off into the darkness for several hours to skip much farther north.
