I LOVE R-1's !! But that very first picture looks like it just saw something that scared it (eyes popping out), right ??

must have seen a BUSA coming

I like them ok I guess... not really just an awesome looking machine to me, but on the positive side, I'm really digging those rim stripes

man.. that is fugly.

+1000 on that

Don't care how fast it is, there's enough bikes out there that look great that I can't push to the limit as it is...much less ride an Ugly piece just so there is more unusable range.

Know what I mean, even if you can push a bike...how often does that happen...push it to the max maybe 10% of the time and then put up with super ugly the other 90%

Nada...not me....they can keep the '09 R1 and heavily discount the '08 black R1  I'll take that one

2009 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Home, information, info
The 09 R1 is at an MSRP of $12,399. Man these bikes are going up in price ??? Its a better idea than ever to buy a year or 2 old low mileage machine for half/2 thirds what the original owner paid. Let him take the ridiculous Jap depreciation hit  Some poor sucker will pay retail+ to have one first....pound a bunch of money into goodies...then sell it a year later with 3000 miles on it for $9k.......to me
New Jap bikes are the fastest way to lose money besides burning it I've ever seen. I'll never buy another new bike unless I plan on keeping it and riding the hell out of it for a VERY long time :beerchug:

I was thinking the same thing. I always thought R1s were at the top in the looks category, but not this year.

Is yamaha the only Mfg left with the under the seat Exhaust system, I think Honda may, or do the new honda's have the short exhaust systems.
I dont care the the undertail exhaust, And if you ride two, the passenger never shut's up. It's Hot, Im Hot. I remember those days.

One of my boys is getting ready to get a bike, and was kinda down because it was going to have to be a "used bike". I told him the same thing you just did. I don't think I will ever get another brand new bike again, it just doesn't make any sense too, right ?

Anyone notice the part about Yamaha's "exclusive drive mode variable throttle control"?

It has an A, B, and C mode. That's a fantastic idea that Yamaha came up with.

Like it but I like the old headlights a little more. But it's an R1 hard not to like especially after riding one.
