I'm not looking to go to a all out drag bike. Maybe just a little street racing. The reason I ask is cuz like I stated before I have never been on a busa. I'm not new to bikes have rode several bikes. I have rode 1k's and liked them alot but was considering a busa. Not looking to put alot of aftermarket drag parts on. I see 1k beating several busa around with just basic mods done to both so I don't know which way I want to go. Wife isn't big on bikes so doubt I will be riding 2 up very often. The handling is one thing I don't know much about on the busa.

ok, this is simple. Apparently from your posts, you're worried about 2 things...going fast in a straight line and comfort. You're obviously not worried about being able to handle worth a crap because you already stated that you're going to extend it and drop it so with that, straightline speed, and especially comfort in mind I really dont even see why you would even consider a gixxer1000. Both bikes are going to be pretty evenly matched in a straight line but the busa is not doubt going to be a better platform with more aftermarket support for drag racing, and if you're going to be riding two up quit a bit, then a gixxer1000 shouldnt even be on your list. The only real advantage it has over the busa is handling which you'll ruin immediately upon doing the mods you mentioned. Sorry for the long rant but I just dont even see what the dilema is???

YEA, what he said

Around here they won't let you test ride. I have ridden several 1000's but never been on a busa. I have rode the zx-14 but I want a suzuki. I like the 1000's but didn't know which one actually ran better. Is the busa more comfortable than the 1000? Wife may want to ride with me some?

I rode on the back of the bike below like 3-4 times in the three years we had it. It was so uncomfortable that I hated to ride on the back of it. We would have to stop every 20-30 minutes so I could get feeling back in my legs and butt. Ours was an 05, but I'm guessing the 09 is not going to be much better. We bought the busa in May and I actually enjoy riding now. If you love your wife I would suggest the busa!! For what it's worth my husband wishes he had bought a busa a long time ago.

I have an 08 busa and the dealer told me if I want a "pure" sportbike go with e gxr 1000.
If I wanted a more comfortable ride for long distace riding or 2 up riding go with the busa . The gxr was small and very uncomfortable for me, im 6' 3" and a big guy I bought the busa and am very happy with it. Besides ive blown away everyother bike and the few cars that wanted to "run' me on the street.
The list of cars: Porsche boxter, 08 corvette, aint nothin come close too betting me on the street yet.

Oh dude, there is absolutely nothing better than throwing a leg over a bike with sweet suspension. When I see guys with lowered rides, my first thought is this guy has never experienced the sweet love affair with suspension. As you know, suspension is everything. Suspension is all you have connecting your Horse Power to the ground and without it well, I need not explain it to you!

I had the opportunity of throwing a leg over a genuine GSXR1K super bike this past spring. The first three or four laps I was a bit timid as this was a genuine beast. But once I settled in and began to get confortable, I passed every swinging Dlck on the track. It was a wonderful experience. The suspension on that bike cost more than my busa and I can understand why this bike held the track record.

If the guys who are willing to trade good handling for curb appeal by way of stretch & lower realized what they are giving up, there would be few long wheel based busas.

What I have noticed is guys who stretch and lower (Other than drag racers) have no idea they have just dropped a huge road block in their ability to improve their road and track skills!

And then you get those who say "Oh, but my busa handles so much better now that it is lowered"! :please:

I had Dave do the fork on my 2008 in August and loved the change. I just got my rear shock back from him last week - revalved and a new spring for my weight and riding style. The road conditions around here are pretty poor right now - lots of rain, low temperatures and pavement repairs/snakes in some sections that are that ugly. Can't wait for spring to see how it all works out. So far even in the crappy season it feels real good. I share Dave's philosophy that a suspension needs to work so I probably run a bit softer than the track guys.

Dave is a sharpe cookie when it comes to suspension. Dave is correct, suspension needs to work. I run my suspension on the soft side for street riding as well. Actually, I find the stock suspension works quite well for street riding. Dave's suspension will no doubt be a grand improvement over stock.

Your confidence level will increase much more rapidly with Dave's suspension tuning! :beerchug:
