What do you wear when you ride

I ride with arai helmet, alpine textile jacket, gp1 gauntlet gloves, Kevlar lined jeans and sidi vórtice boots. I have a nice white/black/gray hayabusa leather jacket, but lost some weight and is too big on me, so need to sell it and get another leather jacket that fits me better.

All it takes is a simple drop at a slow speed and it would suck for you (and your skin).
Very true! I have scars from some road rash in my early 20's (20 some years ago...) from a slower speed crash 30-40 MPH, what's funny is back then I religiously wore a leather jacket and one day I was like "it's to hot today...." that was the day I laid down my GSXR600. Hurt to put a shirt on for weeks...

When I was teaching riding courses I had a friend who dropped his bike, he was wearing a full face Shoei, Levis and a Joe Rocket mesh jacket..

I asked him for his old gear and he gave me it plus his helmet...he had a Go Pro on and sent me the video footage of his crash which happened at around 30 kms/hr..

During the ground school portion of the course which included equipment, I'd show his video then show what he was wearing...it opened a lot of eyes...and lots of them rethought their choice in gear...

Am I the only one who has a certain amount of faith in ABS brakes? I feel like if something bad happens, the ABS is going to get me down below 50 miles an hour. So I can switch from leather to textile. My neighbor actually can't ride anymore because of a back issue and gave me a beautiful black BMW tour shell jacket and pants. The pants are a little snug but will fit if I drop some weight, but the jacket is stealth in that it's nondescript black, but the quality is insane. It's textile mesh that is supposed to be waterproof, but will breathe, is packed with level two armor, and has a great venting system. Really lucky event that saved me from having to shell out 1600 bucks for an aerostich suit.

I am totally fed up with having the road grab my knee protection, pull it down over my shins, and rip or burn through the pant material to shave off the top of my knee. That's happened twice. So I bought a pair of $300 knee braces (Leatt Z-Frame) and I'm probably going to have a tailor put some stretch material in some bike pants so they will fit over it. And maybe wire the tops to my belt. F*** you road, you're never touching my knees again...

I also have an oval head, so I don't think I have any other options then an Arai Signet, but it works because I love the helmet and it's super high quality. I bought a pair of white gauntlets to compliment the white gen 3, but for casual riding I love The aerostich elk-skin ropers. They make every other glove feel too thin, and they feel fantastic.

Also just picked up these boots for casual riding, and they are nice (Stylmartin Audax Boots):

You need leathers with knee pucks.
Arai fits round heads, Shoei fits oval heads, Bell fits like Shoei with more forehead room. HJC fits like Shoei.
ABS getting you below 50 mph??
Crashes can't be predicted, you can have a good plan, but that's about it.
Consider that at 60mph you are traveling 88' per second, so even sliding at 50mph in mesh will be bad. Not only will the road eat it...but the heat from the friction will melt the nylon mesh into your skin...along with the road rash.
To each their own with whatever gear you do or don't wear.
Anything is better than nothing.
But, I respectfully say, that your gear and below 50mph plan is wishful thinking.
I hope you never go down, and you may walk away unscathed...but the odds are against you.
Taller boots also provide shin and more ankle protection as well.
Knees need impact protection too, which the braces are more just there for support to the joints themselves.

Thanks. Good comments, but I had leathers with knee pucks. The taller you are, the more your knee bends to lift your foot up to the high pegs on the Busa. To have leather knee pucks / impact cups which work and are comfortable enough to ride in means they are loose enough that when they hit the pavement they will slide down off your knee. Sections of your pants with the folded elastic leather can't even fix this issue. It's a problem.

I've got race boots. The casual ones I linked to are just for short distances/ transportation / very careful riding.

Have you checked on custom made leathers?
They usually cost the same, or less as regular ones.
So long as they fit right, you should have no issues with knee pucks moving very much in any direction.
