Wet and cold weather riding gear …………what do you use?

The only thing I cant comment on is gloves, I have olympias and the built in squegee is nice in the rain. they are my first set of foul weather gloves, but below forty my finger tips start to get cold, nowhere near frost bite just a little annoying. But they are a comfortable pair of gloves. Ok so I can comment

Hard to beat what the military uses: Goretex jacket and trousers (waterproof) with polypro top/bottoms underneath (warmth). Danner boots with thinsulate (waterproof + warmth). My weak link are the gloves...might have to go with a heated pair.

I am a one vehicle household now too, due to our wonderful economy. Just bought a tourmaster jacket so hat I can endure the cold and occasional rain.

Jacket retails for $279 but I got new on Ebay for $205. Wish I could have afforded the Scorpion XDR Commander or the new Firstgear TPG Rainier.

Just finished looking at some jackets on ebay. You can get last years TPG Rainier for $200 (give or take) . . .

Got some off brand windproof insulated gloves as well as heated gloves.

I dont usually wear waterproof pants, but after getting soaked on a recent rainy/windy jaunt to CT, I am seriously considering . . .

Hope this helps. Bottom line is you can be a tightwad all you like, but shouldnt skimp with the stuff that covers your skin and protects your body, IMHO . . .

By the way . . . Underarmor cold gear mock necks and Underarmor baselayer shirts/bottoms are good layers to prevent bulky clothing.

I ride in 40 degree leather in a cold gear mock and a leather Icon Merc jacket (no lining) without feeling the cold . . .

I had "Marlboro" pants just like yours. Got them same way. Wore them to work in a rainstorm. I get to work and notice my crotch feels funny (funnier than usual). I get inside and shinny out of the pants to find the seams are not waterproof and I have a big, wet, upside-down "U" in my pants. Of course I got the usual comments from co-workers. Worst part was the moist 'junk'.

I wear a snowmobile overall for the cold. Zips up both legs, and up the body in front, so it's easy to get on/off--which for me is a big deal. I don't want to spend five minutes dressing or getting undressed every time I ride. It's an HJC. It was about 80 bucks when I bought it, about 5 years ago.

For rain I've got a spiffy rain-suit that's of no particular note. It works. But it should. It was over 200 bucks (Harley acquisition). If I were replacing it, I'd try FrogTogs. They're about 50 bucks for a suit, and the reports I've read are they work well.

I use a turtle-neck sort-of-thing to keep my neck warm. Also, install the Shoei's 'apron' for my chin, when it gets cold.

Heated gloves. I tie-wrap the wires to the clip-ons and plug/un-plug the gloves from them. When not in use, I tuck the wires out of the way. The main line with the switch plugs into my BatteryTender line. During the summer the wires come off.

Feet don't get cold. Heavy wool socks and boots.

I typically ride 20 miles one-way in an average of 25 to 30* F. With the overalls, a hoody, and my leather jacket, and regular pants, that's about my limit.

I have a FirstGear waterproof jacket and the FirstGear HT overpants, they work really well. I also have the Oxtar(tcx) Matrix waterproof boots. I use a Gerbings heated liner and heated gloves (they are waterproof too) for the cold weather. When it's really cold i have heated socks as well, and a thin Balaclava I can wear under my helmet.
