Greetings,

Well, if you have been thinking about a new flat panel I would suggest you take a look at the newest LCD model offered by Samsung.

I was going for a plasma (phillips) and as I was walking towards the tv section this thing just jumped out from all the rest. Literally the best picture in the house. I immediatly noticed the blacks. It was actually black! Did not look purple in color. I spent 30 minutes sitting on the floor in front of several manufactures. I'm a Sony man as a rule but geesih, with a 4000:1 contrast ratio this thing was friggin unbeliable. Another nice thing to consider is the speakers. Most are on the side but Samsung put them in the bottom (under the label) with a sound chamber. Sounds wonderful. Not a surround system but this is going in the bedroom anyway. The 55 inch Sony Wega is in the family room.

They had three (3) in stock. Sold all of them by 1300 hrs.

Price? Had them on sale for $2069.00. This is there latest offering. I talked the salesman into another $150.00 off if I bought the four (4) year in house service plan. With tax, lcd tv and 1+4 additional year complete in house warranty the total was $2398.00.

The real kicker? 36 months intrest free! I'm siked to get this hooked up asap. Around $66.00 a month.

I'll give a feedback as time permits. Best Buy has the deals right now but they will end this Saturday I think.

Now is a great time to purchase a new flat panel!

This picture has them all beat. They will have to catch up to this one. Only thing close is the Phillips Ambient at 6000:1 contrast ratio.

love Sony stuff myself. 55 inch widescreen LCD, Viao laptop, disc players but let me tell you. You owe it to yourself to check them out next time you get board on a rainy day.

the dvd player converts normal dvd into high def but you have to use an hdmi cable they are a little spendy for hd on every thing else you have to have hd cable box or sat box once you get it hooked up its hard to go back to regular brodcast pic is so crisp even dvd on a regular player doesnt compare to hd

Understand on the cables. Got a small fortune in cables. ok..send me the link so as to check them out.

I'm running HD now with Dish Network. OH..best price on HDMI cables?..yup..walmart.

I have one made by samsung. Plays movies awesome on my 51" at a true 1080p. Mine came with the HDMI cable. Cost about $140 at Target if I remember right.

Front screen projection is still the ultimate... but it takes a big room and low light to get the best results.

someday... someday...

I really want to put this in the family room instead Bid D but what can you do. Can't sell a used 55 inch sony unless you give it away.

Yeah, I looked hard at the 32 inch myself. Can't remember the price off hand but it was like 3 or 4 hundred more for 8 more inches of screen. No brainer.

The 42 inch Phillips plazma was $1799.00. They really are coming down on the plazma but the lcd has them beat.

(brendanp @ Sep. 15 2006,04:16) LCD rocks over plasma period!
Well..got the HD receiver hooked up in the bedroom. We ran all the 3000mhz cable and such.

I'm putting this LCD on my top ten list. Just simply amazing. Highly recommended and runeight approved!

With 25 HD channels it's hard to watch anything else. First test was Food TV HD. Wow! You can see the salt on the crackers!

If you are out messing around stop by Best Buy and/or Circuit City check out the Samsung LN-s_4051 model LCD.

At 36 months intrest free how could you not pull the trigger?

Wall mount is on the way so another project planned. Hard to watch the Sony in the family room now. This HD stuff is getting better every year.
