No its more of a sound that I can just here better at that rpm. say if you were cruising along no acceleration i can here it the most around 4000k like I said might be a little paranoid. I know what you are talking about but it is a different sound, more like a lite chatter when cruising at low rpms. Probably have the dealership listen to it at the first service. You talking about applying throttle, and hearing the valves clunk around in the engine till the rpms get higher right? Its called predetonation. Its because the engine is not designed to be under such load at 4k rpm. The rattling is cause your engine is spinning to slow for the combustion cycle to happen quick enough. That happens with manual engines. In a automatic trans engine the engine autolmaticlly spins to the optimal rpm to avoid valve chatter. It can be damaging to accelerate from such low rpm.
Solution: Ride just above the engine rpm that the knocking occurs at. Slip the clutch a little more.
yepI havnt really noticed it going away after warming up. and Its not real bad but a little annoying. Are you talking about the recall papers for the ignition wire problem?
I think I will have to do just that. The only way to fix this problem is to get a louder exhaust.
Another good reason to wear a helmet. Years ago I took my Katana 1100 for a quick errand without my helmet and I couldn't stand the noise from the valve train. I'd never heard it before so I wore my helmet all the time after that and the noise went away.
