At 75 I would have dropped to second if I was serious.

the Busa will do 70 in first. if you tried to race someone starting at 75 in fourth gear then that was your mistake. Next time kick it all the way down and you wont have any problems (not in that particular situation anyway)

Need to be carefull though, I was at 70 in first one time and slammed it into second and the front end lifted on me.

I weigh 225 pounds and I was leaning forward on the tank, I wasnt expecting it and the riders behind me were laughing at it lol

I was on 675 north just off 35. 2nd gear was the key here. I wish I had known for sure what he had. I just feel like 4th was ok and boy was it NOT! Like I said before, he was eager to go head to head and that may been because he was juicing. Again the was my first time so Im a virgin. Was... didnt get the benifit of a reach around...lol

the car was black. I was struck by the fact that the car was really clean. looked freshly waxed. I mean, you know how you can tell when someone takes really good care of a car. thats the impression i got with him.....

That little 8 may have something like this (twin turbos) under the hood (plus the stock traction and stability control allowing him to just concentrate on getting the rotay in its sweet spot):

ImageShack Links Do Not Work

dude is that your rx8? that is clean.
Unfortunately, the twin-turbo RX-8 in the photo is not mine. Getting a 'Busa is first in my wish list, modding the RX8 may come later.

I agree that even a heavily modded RX8 does not stand a chance over a stock Busa. I just was guessing a possible factor in the smoking...

Yup. Drop a few gears, stay in the redline, and tuck as low as possible-chin on gas tank, he would've been a good 1/2 mile back. Stay in the powerband. Your tach should be near redline. Shift just a tad before redline because peak hp is lower at redline.

Yeah there's NO WAY a stock rx-8 would pull from a busa. My car walks all over them cars and I have twice to hp, but then my car against my bike is a total joke. That mazda must've had a crapload of money under that hood.

Seriously, there was something wrong there, my Nova will walk all over my '94 Magna 750 from a roll on and my Busa would walk all over my Nova even with a 6th gear roll on, that RX8 be packin heat!

I've driven dozens of these cars,.......and trust me,......they are SLOoooooooooow!!! Second gear,.....without doubt,.......would have gotten the job done. Personally,.......(not saying I've done this several times,..

he-he-he) ,....but I would have shown him a long, smokey black mark in the sweeper. These machines, while leaned over, will paint some beautiful, long, black marks in lower triple digits at high rpms in second and third gears!!!

Just be safe,...........don't let the adrenaline rush cause you to lose focus!! There is one thing very consistant about the Busa............it is NOT forgiving!!!

well I have been on both ends of this. after owing 11 rx-7's (don't get me started on this part) and 1 RX-8.. I can tell you that the blue smoke in a rex in not a bad thing as on a piston motor, I did a masive port on my rex8 and a small 75 shot with a gt 28 snail and let me tell you that the 230 stock ponies were helped up to a 459 Hp.. i should had kept that car but I replace it with a 1996 Rex R1 Touring TT (left hand driver) and I love this car.... not street legal yet but soon... blue smoke is a indication of a decent porting job on a rex and ou can bump up in the rex 8 from 1.3L to 2.1 still on just 2 rotors.. ar go with a more massive 20 B config instead of the standard 13B REW ... but you wil need a escort truck to fill you up every 20 mins on a 20B TT..;sure it weight 2,700 pounds... but a good engine work can give you a decent 6:1 PWR

That's okay, i got beaten by a Supra once. Then i found out that it's a 9sec car making +1000 WHP
bowdown.gif
He beats me from stand still to 150mph. But, when i thought about it, my busa is pretty much stock and his car cost him more than $150,000 I was happy that he didn't leave a far distance.

I just sold my Viper with 583 RWHP after 7 years of ownership. It was a blast but after buying my Busa in September of 07, the Viper sat in the garage. You just can't beat 38 MPG, 190+ MPH and around $12K, aside from the thrill of 2 wheel driving.

I've been surfing the RX forums looking for a guy Bragging about dusting a Busa.
So far no luck, but I'm sure he's out there.
