Also, did you get anything kicked up between tire & swing-arm area, a can, piece of wood, piece of metal, animal- etc in the past while riding ?
not that i remember... did hit a really nasty pothole before..

maybe a kangroo... no.. . no animals..

i plan on throwing the rear tire back on.. and snapping some pics.. maybe tonight.. maybe tomorrow.. depends on how long to for me to figure out the spring retainer thingie...
You have kangaroo's in MI? I've been thinking of traveling to Australia,,, MI would be closer.

The wheel alignment is causing your chain to make contact with tire! Other possible causes
1. Tire alignment
2. Worn cush drive
3. Spacer/bearing problems

kk - how many miles on the bike bro? Like KS said, check the cush rubbers, and tighten up that chain...I wouldnt ride the bike like that...your either gonna snap a chain or blow-out that tire...not good.

Keep us updated on what you find out...sorta curious to what is really causing this issue.

another pic.. notice swing arm.. looks little rubbing.. that ofcourse is on the other side of chain.. so maybe just some dirt.. or maybe really loose chain?

Looks like you're missing a screw on your chain guide.  Anyway, just checked my bike and I have a little less than 1/2 inch between the chain and the tire.  Now, if you cannot get your finger between the worn tire and chain, sounds like a serious alignment problem.  Also, the space between the swing arm and the hub in normal.

Check you chain tension, too!!

I would not ride until you figure this out.

i took the screw out for now.. just cleaning..

but yeah.. there is not enough room for me to slide my finger between the chain and the tire.. previous tire was also same clearence.. maybe overtightened swing arm nut?

okay guys.. so i decided to see how much clearance between chain and tire..

so i took the little allen key.. the one used of removing scres on the plastic fairing.. the smaller one. and tried to make it pass at this locatin.. where the white arrow is.

it will pass, but it rubs against the chain roller pins.. or whatever those pins are called.. is that enough clearance.... i dont think so.. i am guessing the chain is rubbing against the tire when it gets even slightly loose...

can someone else try this.. there is no way i can pass my finger in between there.. something wrong with this tire? its a 190 pilot..

I just went out and checked mine. The clearance is close, but not that close. A small allen wrench should go through there no problem.

Get your adjusting marks the same on both sides (I think you mentioned yours were at 3 and 3½). Those marks can also be off, not uncommon for any bike. If you're off by ½ on one and they weren't accurate to begin with, things can be WAY off.

thanks TT,, now they are both on 3. and 3..

however.. the stock tire.. NO rub marks.. this one yes..

any suggestions.. maybe throw some tire chalk? to see if it was just a loose chain?

Are the wear marks only on one part of the tire or all the way around? If it's only on like 10" of the tire then you have a bent wheel. If not the marks on your adjuster blocks may be off. If so you'll need to do an alignment with string. The topic is stickied in the Maintenance and Do-it-Yourself forum.

Has the bike ever been laid down?

TT, if he had a bent wheel...wouldn't he be able to feel it while riding? Seems pretty severe, where if it were bent enough to do this much damage you would think a guy would notice it

Could part of the sub-frame be bent somehow? But wouldnt explain why old tires didnt do this unless kk had a dealer put the tires on the bike, and they decided to swing a baseball bat at the darn thing ?
