Radar Detector

You might PM Pashnic, he'll be honest with you if you KNOW what you want. I use an Escort and have no regrets. You just need to change every few years to get the new and improved models that alert the LEO's new and improved units :beerchug:

Adaptiv is a nice product. Simple, effective and waterproof. I've had mine for a few years now.

From what i've learned you don't need "the new model" to keep up with technology.

Radar is radar. Lasers are lasers.

The sensitivity of a $100 detector versus a $500 one though is probably different.

I bought the $400 escort model that i believe is the 9500 or something like that, maybe the 8500. It's amazing.

the general rule is to slam on your brakes you it goes off. Even if it detects a laser you might still have a chance of getting a lower read on the officer's gun.

Laser can only be done when the weather is clear and during the daylight I believe....also laser gun must be stationary. Radar can be done in the rain and at night while moving. But radar bounces off of cars and scenery so it's easy to pick up even over a hill if you have a good detector.

My escort 9500 has paid for itself many times over in 3 years of ownership. I always slam on the brakes for k or ka. The gps lockout feature for false alarms is a great thing too. Unfortunately in my new hood, Cali, they like laser. I have only had one positive laser catch in that time.

Fwiw I use it in my cars. On the busa I'm usually more tuned in and looking down the road.
