Looking For A Radar Detector

I have a Note 5, so far yes, it does work in the background. I just removed the app and reinstalled, so far so good. I don't want to say it will work 100% for you and it not work. But I am happy to answer any questions you have. I need to do some more reading on that Escort/Droid forum.
I can say on Friday, I had Pandora, Waze, and EL running and it popped up the alerts.

I will play with a little more tomorrow. One thing I didn't do is register my product online before I downloaded the app. I did the reverse which may have caused an issue.

Ok, so far I can confirm EL will not pop up visual alerts while running in the back ground, but will always give the audio tone and voice alert while running in the background. Pair that with Waze and you should have a decent shot at radar countermeasures. Opinions and results may vary.

Great to hear. Visual alerts are completely useless for me considering I keep my phone in my pocket. :D thanks again for the information. I will have my order placed within the hour.

I really like the Escort, will give it a while and see how it does. I may pick up a V1 later down the road.

I'm a fan of "Escort" myself. Have used them since radar was a fledgling. I use the X-50 in conjunction with the H.A.R.D. (Helmet Assisted Radar Detection) both are sold at "legalspeeding.com". I love the headsup remote in my helmet.

Anyone ever get anything on the Rocky Mountain RD's? They are pretty cheap $200, made for bikes and weather proof. I got one and gave it away on this forum before I even tested it.

BTW: Tuff is that really you!?!?!?!

Yes Arch, it's really me! I'm going to hang around here forever just to torment you! :p How have you been buddy, you stayin out of mischief?

Just got a new Escort Max2 platinum at Costco over the weekend. Sorting it all out still in my car before I try it on my bike.

I still have my Escort X-50 on my bike, but lately it's been giving me the "Service Required" message, at times. May be time to upgrade...

Why do you guys use a Car designed radar on a bike ? I tried years ago , and always had issues .
TPX unit since 2012 , and never looked back . Designed for a bike , vibration proof , and water resistant .
Take it off in a down pour or Zip lock bag cover .

TPX ;)

Me personally, I've had my X50 for many years and it has paid for itself a few times over! It just started giving me issues recently! I didn't even buy it brand new, I bought it from a friend who sold his ZZR 600, and gave up riding. I only paid $125 for it. At the time, It sold new for over $300. I've used it on my Gen 1, my cages, and my Gen 2, I really can't complain.

My V1 works perfectly that’s why.
Mark said the same thing with his V1 till he rode the bird with the TPX unit . When we ride together he turns of his V1 , and my TPX chirps his helmet heads up light/ audio . I do not use the audio because the LED up front is bright alerting me to look at screen for what band . The TPX display is angled for ease of view . buttons are large for gloves .

The range and accuracy is what I paid for but I’ll agree it should be more user friendly and I even told Mike Valentine the same thing some years back. He’s not interested. Inside a car, day or night it lacks nothing. There are no knobs to adjust, just turn it on. Everything else is automatic, range, direction, strength of signal, type of signal etc. In the daylight the tiny warning lights, which are all red, stupidly IMO, cannot be seen. So I bought an aftermarket LED unit that connects to Valentine’s optional and extra audio unit. That’s around $600 but amortized by the number of saves, the initial outlay was nothing. $600 is less than just two tickets and the V1 really works. When you travel and even for short close to home jaunts in a car or on a bike, having and knowing how to use a good detector is a must. It just makes $en$e.

I love my max360 and it has saved me of countless tickets on trips from FL to NY on the mustang, but the thing is huge for bike application. I would love a TPX and wiring the busa and concours, so that I can just swap back and forth.
