I was riding my '04 LE last Sunday on FM1749 when a Sheriff's deputy caught me speeding at 20 over while he was driving in the opposite direction; he gave me a warning ticket. Now I am beginning to think my luck is running out. Who does make the best radar /jammer for bike's

Jammers are illegal.

The best 2 out there are Valentine 1 and the Escort X50 8500, in that order. They both have great reception. The Valentine tells you how many and the direction of the signals, but requires an additional module to plug in an external speaker or helmet LED. The Escort can also track multiple signals, and you can plug an earphone into it without any other modules.

Hope this helps.

Laser jammers actually legal.

and second statement very questionable... I have both Val1 and Passport... Val1 has more false alerts.... I hate false alerts... and directional arrows is useless.
Both units are top of the line...
Val is more expensive and bigger size. It has better laser detection as well as more laser false alerts... Laser alert usually meant that You already have a ticket.
My setup on busa is Passport 8500 and Liser BlinderX20 Xtreme.

$300 for Radar detector and $350 for laser jammer, some flat black paint on your bike and dark cover for the headlight.....
No cops will ever measure your speed with laser... They have many other methods measuring your speed...

go to radarbusters.com those guys are crazy... and they knows their stuff...

No tickets so far..... (knock on wood ) and I`m not driving no stinking speed limits.

speedzones 2005 radar detectors test:
"The Passport X50’s performance was astounding consistently reporting over 50% signal strength at nine miles. It’s reported signal strength was double that of any other detector. Its performance was followed, in order, by Bel RX 65, Bel 995, and Valentine One. We were assisted by two country sheriff’s departments. The Passport X50 is the Long Ranger of Radar Detection and hotter than a Texas jalapeno pepper!"

It's interesting that most of the tests claim the Val1 didn't pick up a radar signal reliably over 2.5 miles. I know I've had valid alerts up to 5 miles with the Val1. I had an X50, and I thought it had just as many falses as the Val1. You are are saying that the "Val1 arrows are useless". I agree if your referring to it on a bike, but certainly not in a car. The X50 is a very good one for a bike. I guess I'm partial to to both, but I don't have anything bad to say about the Valentine !.

Laser Jamming is only legal because IR light isn't a resticted use frequency, like radar. You can now get a Laser jammer that connects to the X50.

So far I can also say no tickets using either the Val1 or X50, and I know both have saved my bacon more than once.

X-50 is a nice unit, and the Blue LED's are easy to see day & night

Any of the big three will do....... V1, Bell, or Passport!
Jammers same in my test with Five different Lidar guns! Blinder, Bel, Passport!
Other sites got different results, but I can attest to NO tickets in almost three years while running this set-up! I personally believe the Diff between test results was because of the vehicles tested on. IF your going to install on a auto then the test results are probably on the money. But IMOP on a bike no noticeable difference in jamming capability between the three. Regardless of data/facts, etc.. get yourself set up with one of these because no protection will land you a ticket almost everytime!

What he ^ said.

Radar jammers don't work because they don't put out enough engery to jam anything. Don't know about laser jammers but I dout it.

Vai1 has weird setup and Passport is highly adjustable.
I agree that Passport better on the bike and I use it that way.

Passport laser jammer is outdated tho... the one you can hook up to the passport...

Check out RadarBusters.com. Radar Roy has a pretty good site and he is a pleasure to deal with. I use the excort X-50 with the H.A.R.D. helmet display. I have found without the helmet display the radar unit alone doesn't work all that well. If you are riding hard in the twisties, or high speed on the interstate, the noise drowns out the sound and you aren't able to stare at the display. You will find that most of the time your detector will save you at close range, not long range, unless you live in flat country like Florida or Nebraska etc. Many times the radar is coming at you and it's over a hill or around corners etc. and you won't be able you pick up a signal until the man is close. If you don't catch the detector when it first lights up, you'll get nailed.

I've used several different radar setups over the years. Tried the ear piece in my helmet plugged into the detector, but that sucks. And, I found the little plug in on the detector wears out from plugging into it every time you get on and off your bike. Just the shear number of times wears it out.

I tried the escort Solo S-2 that runs on batteries. It's a cool unit but the black display is hard to see if you run the unit alone. It works exceptionally well but if you decide you want to use the H.A.R.D. system later on, you must buy the electrical cord as the H.A.R.D. unit won't work without it. One problem I have found with the H.A.R.D. unit is it's not water proof and if you get caught in a heavy rain shower, you have to tuck the little reciever inside your helmet to keep it dry.

I did use a laser jammer for a while but found it to be a pain in the arse mostly. You have to remember the laser beam is only 18 inches in diameter at 500 feet. They shoot at your headlight and if the beam does not hit your laser unit, it doesn't do you any good.

The best asset you can have to keep your record clean is a top notch traffic attorney. There is one here that wins more than 99% of all laser/radar tickets. $400 and you don't even have to go to court.

Whatever you do, don't run! You may get away but if you don't, life will get pretty miserable after you get out of jail.

Can anyone describe the best installation location and setup. I got a ticket last year and would sure appreciate help not getting one in 06! I currently have no detector except for the one that makes that "oh sh#t" sound inside my helmet as I pass the cop.
