Does this look ghey enough?

Not quite. Maybe get some new laces...

No, I like them as an athletic shoe.

I'm a big New Balance fan... course not many shoes fit my 13 Extra Wide foot, but NB always has something for me. I run on average about 4 times a week varying distances and my NB's are always comfortable and hold up great.

Well gents, this ones right up my ally. I am my Sqd. UFPM, PTL, Certified Fitness Specialist and resident spin instructor. I deal with people's profiles and fitness issues all day, every day and over my 7+yrs or experience in the Fitness world, I have landed deduced that the Vibram "toe shoe" style shoe is the best shoe for day to day activites and occasional running. Pros- utilizes way more muscle to stabilize the body instead of having a shoe to do it for you (think of free weights vs. Selectorize equip.). Forces the body to run on the balls of the feet (how were designed to run) vs. Heal striking.. I currently run a 9:31 on my 1.5Mi and do it in toe shoes! Working @ the fitness center we wear slacks, a polo and black athletic shoes... A few of us are gonna try to wear them in uniform with the appropriate sock combo since we can wear them in PT geat with white socks...

Good luck on the hunt for the perfect shoe!

You know we all hate guys like you

I just got a new troop, a SSgt and he runs the 1.5 mile in 9:19. I am happy that I will never have to do paperwork on him for his fitness, but damn that is fast. He was done with his cool down before I finished this morning. Although, this morning it was already 82 degrees and humid as hell here.

You wussies need to run a real distance (yes I know the Marines run 3) :moon::laugh:

Best I EVER ran 2 miles was 11:56 (21 years old) and I :puke:after it was over!

My normal 2 mile was about 14:30, and I could still run it under 16 when I retired.

yes, but we run 5 to 8 miles to train for the 3 mile:lol:

I have had nothing but bad luck with new balance shoes. I have had several different models and I had terrible shin splints with all of them. I thought it was me. I switched to asics and all of my problems went away. I reccommend asics to anyone, they are flat out the best running shoes I have ever had in the 12 years I've been running. Also, I know two guys that bought the toe shoes and neither of them like them for running (it is a very subjective thing though).

Come on now, we may not be good at running long distances, but we are good at putting bombs on targets. Anyway, I regularly run about 7 miles a week and hate every second of it. I am not a runner, I like motorsports. I run because I am told to, and when I retire in 4 years, I will no longer run.

i dig nikes in general, they have plenty of arch support, and they're shaped right for my foot. as far as "service colors", in the Army they preach safety, so HI VIZ is the name of the game. when my squad leader runs, it looks like 2 giant neon slugs are playing leapfrog. we're not authorized to wear the "toe shoes", because it might give an "unfair" advantage to those who wear them. are you fn serious? genetics give an unfair advantage, so do exercise and proper nutrition, but you don't see them doing anything about either of those. (well, if you eat at the dfac, you're certainly not getting proper nutrition)

also, since i started doing tae kwon do, my knees and shins haven't bothered me running. only during the "squat bender" and "forward lunge" do my knees actually hurt.

Sir, I get that all the time.. On my last deployment I was with CJTF-82/101 and was the only AF working in CJ1 and all of my army guys gave me S*** for getting paid to be a personal trainer and work at a gym for the AF.. I say it's one of the best kept secrets we have, I truly enjoy molding people that have issues with muscular/cardiovascular fitness and see there improved times when me and my staff get done with them.

Thanks for all the good info, guys!

I just got home from a little 240 mile ride, so I'll go shopping after I cool off and have some water. It's flippin' hot out there!

Keep us posted brother, hope you find something you like. I agree, it is blazing hot out today. Instead of working outside today, the wife and decided to rip up the carpet in the house to start laying down our Brazilian Teak hardwood flooring.

I tried something similar to what Skydivr ordered, but I couldn't even get a foot in them. Way too narrow. I ended up at the New Balance store and actually talked to people who know about their products. I ended up with a size 14 4E instead of the 2E that I thought I would need. And they're the same colors as my Busa. Hopefully these will work out better than the last pair.

Thanks again for all the experiences and advice.
