I gotta head north

Upon closer examination the bikes are four stroke thumpers, two Hondas and one Yamaha. Look at the gear they’ve left on or near the bikes which are cabled together. This is Ontario Oregon right next to the western central Idaho border. The bikes all have Florida plates! Could they really? If they’re that hardcore they’ll probably leave at sunup so I’ll miss em. :)

Kinda tired, was COLD @ 58 degrees for a couple HUNDRED miles today, the last 200 miles. Was like riding in a wet cloud, not raining but wet roads and wet shield. Cold weather gauntlets and full sleeve liner with two T shirts all day. Been thru this canyon before and it’s a must ride regardless of the weather. WiFi tonight is slow but I’ll try a few pics. About 1,200 miles so far. Glacier tomorrow wet or whatever…

Make sure to widen the pics. Still no comparison to being there.

Made it thru Glacier NP east and west. Was pretty cold and visibility wasn’t the best. Was also crowded with tourists. On a bike it’s not so bad though. Spectacular riding though as most roads I’ve been on. Headed out of MT today over yet another heavily forested mountain range across ID into WA for the night. Lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and otherwise great riding country. Heading south towards central OR in the morning, mostly straight fast riding just covering ground. Crater Lake on Saturday.

Was a very cold day and the last hour I got caught in a surprise downpour. 35 miles from my motel! Only had a Frogg Toggs pullover. Poor planning even though the forecast said no rain. Was a very hairy ride over the pass from OR to CA in the rain, with semi trucks with a high wind to boot! Very. Spent the evening drying out my pants etc but tomorrow’s forecast shows rain for a 150 miles or so about three hours after I head out. Straight interstate but still, I’m gwina get soaked from the waist down. Can’t avoid it. Pics are Crater Lake OR and the tree lined two lane west. There was a big bicycle event in the park so they blocked the Rim drive to bikes only. Was 48 degrees at the rim of the volcano.

Cold, wet, tired and home. An unexpected rain storm came in that I couldn’t avoid on the last two days. I rode about 350 miles in a high headwind rain storm. My PR2s did their job well. 2,800 miles thru six states from near sea level to almost 10,000’ including three National Parks and too many National forests to remember. Lost 10 mpg riding into a killer headwind crossing OR around 85 mph. 37 vs 46+. The RS ran perfectly rain or shine, straight line interstates or mountain passes. Here’s a pic before the rain. It’s too too dirty now.
