Flash/tune A 2001?

Hey folks, I've come across a very low mile one owner '01 and I'm trying to find out if the 16bit ecu can be flashed. I've seen a couple references to it but I have also seen discussions of people swapping to a 32bit ecu.If it's that big of an issue I'd rather just look for a nice example with the 32bit.

Gotta be 02&up. Swapping the few parts and getting an ECU to update isnt very difficult

Depends on how good of a deal the 01 is.
Used parts vary alot in price, but probably $300-$500 in parts, with most of the cost being the ecu.

True. When I went turbo on my '00 a few years back I think it was less then $200,I remember I grabbed an '03 ECU for $100 from a buddy.
