Could try. If no luck you can still through bolt it with a nut on the back side.

Yep Matt.

I had a set of Gilles on there...hate them...switched back out to a chromed OEM set with chrome bolts. The chrome bolt snapped during install 1/3 of the way into the hole. Made a HUGE mess. The bolt must have been weakened. It snapped with almost no force or pressue.

Have new OEM (non-chrome bolts on order) and am going to order a 5/15 18NC custom bolt for the "new" hole.

At this point i would get a Heli coil kit for the correct 8mm bolt, with the size your at now the drill size for a Heli coil should still be larger!
