I filled up with 91 octane, full tank and the bike ran fine but when i re filled with the same octane gas the bike ran like crap with no power and felt like a bad miss with any throttle. I usually just run 87 octane and have no issues with it, it usually runs smooth with the power you would expect all the way to red line. I had the same thing happen last year and it was again on the second tank that the issue popped up. I pulled the gas out and replaced with 87 and once the 91 was used up in a few miles the bike instantly ran like it should. my question is, do you think this is a case of bad gas and its just a coincidence that it was on the second tank both times or does it sound like it's a case of plugs, valves or something else.
bike is a 2002 40,000km. don't have any history before 28,000 km so might have the original plugs and no idea if the valves have been looked at. Also the bike feels twitchy at low rpm with the 91 where its smooth with the 87. I'm of course fine running the 87 but just curious if this is a sign of a problem. I'll probably change the plugs and adjust valves anyway but don't really have the time right now.
