Why did you get your Gen 3? Was it what you wanted it originally?

In my case, I originally wanted a yellow '06 ZX-10R, which is the last bike I had back in 2011. I wasn't looking for a new bike.

I was one year away from hitting 40 and suddenly started paying attention to bikes on the road. Every time I heard one on my street, which is a main avenue, I'd look out the window.

10 years of not caring about bikes at all, and suddenly, I'd be rubber-necking at every single "crotchrocket" I heard or saw. Didn't matter brand or year, I wanted to look.

I realized I was yearning to be on two wheels again, and after examining myself internally, I really felt ready to start riding again.

Well, I couldn't find a yellow '06 ZX-10R given it's age, so I started getting up to date on the new bikes. Dang, I couldn't believe the new developments.

200 HP engines? Electronic suspension? Traction control? TFT displays? Factory quickshifters? Selectable power maps? I was truly in awe and even somewhat intimidated.

The '21 ZX-10R that just came out at the time was too ugly for my liking, so that was out of the equation. I decided to wait.

I didn't care about power or tech. I just wanted my old bike back because I loved the way it looked and felt.

So, I stalked the classified ads, but nothing. Well, the new 'Busa rumors started spreading like fire until it was finally announced months later. WOAH! I found its design STUNNING!

That's really what kept me away from the previous generations of the Hayabusa. I loved them for what they were, but didn't love their design itself.

Well, the Gen 3 just hit the right pleasure points for me. Every single angle looked beautiful. I loved the analog gauges and small TFT display.

I loved the multispoke wheels. I even loved the stock exhaust cans. So, I waited long months for the bike to make its way into Puerto Rican dealers and to also go down in price.

Timing was perfect. So, a month before turning 40, I went and got me my new 'Busa. I was gonna wait for the '23 colors but suspected what ended up happening, so I went for the '22 before they sold out.

I wanted the black/gold originally. Loved that unique combo. When I told him my choice, the bike shop owner told me the matte silver/red looked stunning in person and that I'd love it.

I didn't like it in pictures, but I felt he was reading me properly and had me all figured out, so I trusted him. I happily agreed to change my choice.

Man, good thing he steered me from the black/gold. I loved the matte silver/red so much when I saw it. Nothing like the pictures. It had such a strong presence. The matte finish really showed all the lines compared to the glossy finishes.

I had already seen a black/gold in person earlier in the year and didn't feel anything, but did like the distinctive combo. Good thing the man saw through me and nudged me in the right direction.

Less than a month later, I curiously check the classified ads and what do I find? A yellow '06 ZX-10R for sale. I did what any sane, self-loving person would do: I bought it.

So not only did I end up with the new stunner that the Gen 3 is and got to finally experience the iconic Hayabusa after 22 long years, I also ended up getting the bike I originally wanted...my first literbike. Same color, too.

I still cannot believe it. Not yet. It still hasn't hit me after all these months later. I feel so fortunate and grateful!

I say outloud that I have the new 'Busa but it doesn't register. I say I have a yellow ZX-10R and it also doesn't register. It's crazy!

Great question!
So I dd not plan on buying a Gen3… I waited for the new then 20 Gsxr1000 to drop and it was the same as the previous 3yrs. (Suzuki is known for this) so I ended up buying a GSXS1000 because I was older (48) and wanted something upright but still had the feel of a liter bike. Then… I bought a blue frame 750 and fell in love all over again (miss this bike a lot) so I was back in the hunt for a GSXR1000 but again… same bike, different colors.. walked in the dealership to inquire about the next years models and sat on a Gen3… game over.
Heck… I liked it so much I won another!!
2023 brings color changes only again to the 1k so unless they announce that they won’t be making these further (Europe already won’t get the 23s and that’s where it all starts) I won’t own a newer liter bike, if they do I’ll buy a Z model and put it up.

My friend Scar and I went back-and-forth about this for 10 years. I told him in 2012 that if the bike came out I would put it on the credit card and he had friends at Suzuki. They told me oh it's coming. Bold new graphics, bold, new graphics, same bulbous, funny body styling.

He said it was coming though. He used to know the owners, and was friends with them at Suzuki, Japan, and Suzuki, North America.

So when Josh called and said he could get a deal because they were coming out and we have to order early I threw my deposit down actually at one dealership and then went after the deal in Oklahoma.

The black and gold I bought, I couldn't murder it out enough to keep up with you guys, and everybody had a murdered out 2022 so I went the other direction.

I just had PPF put everywhere which cost me some money but well worth it. The trailer is almost finished, and I'll be towing that back-and-forth to work and on any other run I make. I've got a list of things I need to do though.

Is it everything I wanted and more?. Well, the front end already comes up in three gears. And it's absolutely not like anything else out there. So my answer is yes, absolutely.

I was tossing between the gen 2-1/2 and gen 3 and also considered a new ZX14, I was actually high eBay bidder on a 2019 silver Busa with zero miles but didn’t meet reserve. What ever I bought had to have just s few hundred miles on it. I wanted either a white/red 2018 or Red 2020 or new white 2022. The factory cruise control and electronics sold me on the gen 3 and haven’t regretted it, this is my 12th ish bike and my favorite by far. I’ve added a couple decals, Heli bars, dropped pegs, taller windscreen, front seat, rear seat cowl, dash cam and now I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a new Abba Sky Lift.

I bought the Gen 3 to turbo it and considered a gsxr 1000 but feel the Busa just makes more sense to turbo. I like how the cylinder and case are separate. Considered a ninja H2 but feel it has limitations and wouldn’t be as fast. Also seems like a nightmare to work on.

I’m super happy with it.

1000's are obviously 340cc short of a Busa engine, which means smaller rods and other parts, that don't have as much mass or strength as the bigger engine.
So the turbo'd 1k's tend not to live as long, without alot more money in stronger aftermarket engine internals.
Another reason the H2 engines with flashed ecus(way more hp that was just factory detuned) are also known as grenades.
The Busa seems to be the best turbo platform with the most support too.
Looking forward to seeing your build come together.

I’m started riding a year ago. Worked my way up from a BMW G310 thumper to my current set of bikes: S1000XR, SFV4S, and now a Gen III.

The S1000XR does it all. Touring, twisties, track. It’s smooth, comfortable, and confidence inspiring (and very fast). The SFV4S is terrifying. It’s a brute, very nervous, and challenging to drive well. I should have sold it already, but I keep coming back for the challenge and the drama!

I wanted a sports bike that was comfortable, smooth, confidence inspiring and fast! I also like the fact that the Busa is an Icon. I’m fairly large (6”3 and 250 lbs) and I actually prefer larger bikes.

The Gen III ticks all my boxes!!!

I didn't think much about it. When it came out, I loved the look and specs on paper, but dismissed the bike due to weight and price. Then in August 2021 the local Suzuki dealer where I got my previous bike (GSXS1000) and with who Im friends with invited me to a "members-only" Busa test day. They had two test bikes, booked for a whole day.

Went for maybe 20 minutes test ride and the rest is history. Loved it and my concerns went out the window. The weight was not an issue and the price didn't seem so steep anymore. Next spring I got my own.

50th birthday, ok.... time to buy my first ever brand new bike in 34 years of riding having owned everything from 12 to 207hp.

Looked at a Ducati Diavel but inside I knew they'd replace the V2 with a 4 soon as the rest of their range was doing that and I didn't want old tech. Plus you're north of 25k before tax gets added.
Looked at a Ducati Streetfighter V4 but for the money to get the gucci bits you're over 25k
Looked at a new Kawasaki ZX14R (had a 2013 14R at the time) but it was identical to what I had just new so that was a no.
Looked at a Kawasaki Z H2 1000 SE but after sitting on it it felt like all the money was for the engine, the rest of the bike felt bargain basement and I didn't like the seating position.

In the corner of the showroom was a Gen 3 Busa, sat on it. Within 5 seconds said I want the silver and red one. I loved the looks, the dash is just right and even though I'm 6' 3" and 230lbs even my old knees are still comfortable on it.

Do it! I got the full Abba set (except the roller kit) and the fitting kits for the 'Busa and ZX-10R. So easy to work with and makes the bike look more important, ha-ha.

Don't have garage space for the TOTL Sky Lift, but as soon as that happens, it'll be mine for sure. I saw an elder here posted a picture of his and that's how I found out.

What a great invention from those Brits.

I ordered my new 2023 Hayabusa just yesterday (Friday 6/01/23). I was looking to buy a used gen2 which I went and test rode. Lovely bike too, in stunning red (2013 model). When I returned to the dealer to do the deal he had a new 2023 with almost £2,000 knocked off as it was pre-registered. Well the price was just too much to ignore, and an hour or so later I was the proud owner of an all black, brand spanking new 2023 model 'Busa.
Having previously owned 5 gen 1's I am a bit of a Hayabusa veteran, but am really looking forward to my new bike being delivered....stroll on warm dry days...
