Concealed carry on your bike

What could you possibly expect from a response like this?

He doesn't want a response. Only trying to make his presents known. His first reply was to try and start an argument about the right to carry. Blanca responded and fed him what he wanted, so he has been out to attack Blanca ever since. If you notice all comments since the first have been toward Blanca. If we ignore him he will go away to find something else to pick at.

However, my question was never answered....I know nothing about carrying but have been looking into getting my permit. My question is why do you have to hide the weapon? Is it a law that it cannot be seen? I have ridden with guys that carry on thier side and its out in plain sight is that illegal?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone thought about carrying a light weight revolver?? There are some SWEET 45 ACPs out there. I'm a chick and I carry either a Combat Commander or a 45 revolver (only when riding on the mainland) but and in Alaska you can pretty much carry open or concealed but you can't carry into banks, bars, school zones, or court houses. As long as you don't get stupid, the cops usually have a pretty good attitude. The Benelli M3 was just too bulky

In my state you can open carry. But Joe public views it as a dangerous person to see you walking around with a side arm. If you happen to cover your open carry without a CCW , you can get into major trouble. (They think you are trying to do something bad or looking for trouble.) The CCW allows you to hide your weapon legally. People act different when they see you with a side arm on. When it is hidden, they treat you like a regular person.

Really, I would think the law should be to keep a firearm in plain sight, because if its hid someone or an officer doesn't know its there until its too late. People may have evil thoughts and act on them but everyone deserves at least one warning who knows the warning may change there life. So its not really a law you have to hide it. Its like a privilage to be able to hide it.

actually, a person should never draw unless they are planning on shooting someone...pulling your gun as a "warning" can get you in a lot of trouble!

do you think we randomly wave guns around when driving through our local municipalities? No. they are there for the offchance of a rainy day where some poor soul tries something stupid. They are there for us to protect ourselves---- in case we need it.

Be very careful where you place a firearm on your person while riding. If you slide off the bike, a solid object of metal and polymer will seriously ruin your day when you hit the pavement. That said, I always carry a large sharp blade and mace. I have had more run-ins with dogs than people in my years of riding. You are not going to scare a dog by pointing a gun at him...

You are allowed to carry either open or concealed in Tennessee, as long as you have a carry permit. Carrying without a permit is not currently legal in TN.

If you do not have a carry permit...

You may transport an unloaded handgun from place to place, but you may not wear it on your body. If you're simply transporting a weapon in a vehicle, I recommend that it is in some sort of case and out of your reach while driving. You don't want to give anyone a reason to question the fact that you are "transporting" and not "carrying."

Kevin, if you want to carry here in TN, go get a permit. Classes are Cheap. You have a great gun store just south of you (Guns and Leather in Ridgetop/Greenbriar). Not only does it make you legal, it also gives you good advice about the legalities. If you want to talk to me about it, then send me a PM. I've had a ccw for over 20 years. I've never been in a situation where I thought I may have to use it, but I'm glad I have that choice.

In Iowa I can now carry open or concealed, so if its on my hip while I'm riding and my jacket ****s, I'm still good. I carry a Taurus 24/7 pro d/s 9mm (4"), either in my blackhawk serpa finger-lock, or the inside pocket of my joe rocket leather. It fits in there like a glove.

Keith after reading it again and again I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Whether or not he meant it as a statement or insult makes no difference to me. I'm fine with it. I intend on one day meeting all here , let's hope he does as well and realizes the gravity of each post.

Nice thing is pa is a open carry state by default. I have CCW and i have checked the reprocitiy states and good for those im traveling in... Bit confused though on in vehicle carry and long guns loaded a no no. Will have to read up more on pafoa website.

While carrying on the bike(s), I use a zippered side pouch, kinda like a fanny pack with no belt attached. It does have a belt clip but I use the heavy duty belt loop to attach it to my belt. Keeps everything hidden when parking and removing/storing.

The subject of open carry has always intrigued me. One thing that I can't stop thinking is the bad guys will know who to target first if dirty deeds are about to commence. With concealed, you never know who may be carrying!
