Right. I would genuinely love a new 09 1k if I could afford it. I could sell my turbo bike but I would never get back what I have into it and frankly the 1k would be slower as far as acceleration goes. I would however love the handling and brakes of the 1k. Its a toss up, for me anyways.

The 08 Busa is putting 174 to the rear with no mods. Lose the cans and you save 30 pounds right of the bat... There is not doubt that the 09 1000 is a monster and is dangerous in the wrong hands.

But there a major difference in the two. Push a 1000 to 170+ and you will find out what it is. As a matter of fact you can tell the diff when you get to triple digits. The busa is like a Cadillac, smooth as silk at any speed. Not to mention the busa has more mods then a space shuttle.

I have a 2006 GSXR1000 and it comes standard with a 4 into 1 exhaust, 175 HP and weighs 440 pounds. The 2009 is heavier due to the dual exhaust. Dump the duals for a 4 into 1 exhaust and it will be lighter than the 2006 and have 15 more HP. Frankly, my 2006 is a scary bike to ride and I can only imagine what the 2009 will be like. Its probably way too much for the street.

Hell, the K6 is already TOO MUCH for the street. It doesn't have that low end torque like the Busa. But the Gixxers are meant for mid range/top end SCREAM. I personally get 110% satisfaction taking my Gixx to the track. When I ride it on the street, it's just too dangerous to get the same thrill and aggression that I get on a racetrack. It isn't fun riding the Gixx on the street at all.

Yes, I am looking at a 09 gsxr 1k too. I have 08 busa, and its a caddy compared to my 02 1k at higher then normal speeds. 2 different bikes. The 1k is a sprinter and a handler. The busa is a straight line missle and long distance runner. Smoother on the topend then the 1k.

My 08 dynoed at 162hp. I really can't see the 09's having 30more HP. Maybe 190 at the crank but I seriously doubt it's at the rear wheel.

Yep, when Suzuki says 190 BHP, that is HP at the crank. That should turn in to about 165-170 at the rear wheel.

There were 2 K8's at the Dyno and went back to back. Both were identical in that a Brock's AH system and a PCIII were the only mods on the bikes. My bike went 185 HP, my friends went 184 HP.. I know you get different results anywhere you go, blah, blah, blah, just posting my findings...:beerchug:

I guess I should add; The K8 stock exhaust is in the 50 Lb. range and the AH is about 9 pounds.. Pretty nice jump start to weight reduction...
