Future of the Busa

I am hearing from a VERY reliable source that the NEW Zx-10 is being released in Europe in the UN-restricted version and selling the RESTRICTED version here in the states...which is kind of ASS-BACKWARDS isn't it???...and that the KAWI reps here in the states are saying if THIS is the case WE don't want it...has ANYONE else heard ANYTHING like this...and like i said this info came from a person "IN THE KNOW"...

and as far as i can tell my '08 STOCK black/orange was still pretty fast at 9.09...take a look...and yes it IS STOCK...so all this "even Elvis died" talk is abunch of HOG-WASH to me...LOL....just sayin'

Welcome to the land of Obama and the epa...wait till cap and tax gets passed.

Oh just elect Obama...how much damage can he do in 4 years :rofl::rofl:

I like Newt Gingrich...he specifies many govt' agencies are BROKEN beyond repair and
need to be completely scrapped and start over from a clean slate...he specifically
mentioned the epa as his example.

I've been thinking this since I bought my 'Busa, and actually started keeping tabs on all the sport bikes that are out.

Ya know what.... I have a '99.... the first year 'Busa. More or less bone stock and it's fun as all hell.

The first gen was the exact same damn bike for what????? 9 effing years. yeah, WTFH suzuki??? 9 YEARS!!!!! and the update for the gen 2... really?? yeah it's nicer, but for what I got my '99 for money wise, I could buy 2 of them for the price of one left over '09. Not worth it for the lack luster performance gain.

All they really needed to do was drop some weight off of it IMO.

Hell, dial it down to 1000cc keep the ergo's and lose a butt load of LBS.

Seriously, that's the only thing holding this bike back... the weight.

Look at all the litre bikes making as much or more power out of the box than the 'Busa. WTF is the point in the extra weight or CC's if you're still pulling the same (less) numbers?

Shed some LBS, make the CC's count, get in the f'ing game or get out of it. It's just gotten sad how behind Suzuki seems to be at the moment.

Yay :cheerleader: someone else who gets it.

It's funny the kool-aid drinkers bust on me for not being grateful to ride anything
with an "S" on it but I've been biootchin about the gen 1.5 update since it's
release AND...AND I said THEN the future of motorcycles is in the electronics...
not just power but getting it TO THE GROUND. (I'm ahead of the curve but
that's o.k....I'll wait for the kool-aiders to catch up )

My point has been the busa can be anything marvelous Suzuki wants it to be,
not limited to any CC or weight with any electronics they want. And look at
what they gave us...warmed over soup...yay :cheerleader:...hence yet another
thread like this.

Suzuki is not interested in building the best motorcycles,
they are not concerned with their customers,
and they could care less about the loyal busa following...
they are short sighted money grabbers riding the wave of
what others have done before them with little vision either in
the business sense or motorcycle design.

They even let the 25 anniversary of the GSXR come and go without so much as
a tadah....sad.

OBTW-The Gen 1.5 busa does have one distinction...the dumbest electronic device
I have seen on a motorcycle...the mode selector switch  We spend thousands
of dollars to squeeze every last hp out of our bikes from expensive exhaust, custom
maps, air box mods...and these idiots come up with a switch that makes it go
SLOWER and SLOWER still Bahhhhaaaa  Talk about a poor mans traction
control...omg to funny.

all the deristriction did was open up the aftermarket. If you have the cash you will still be able to fix all the detuning they did by electrical aftermarket stuff. New pipes and will probably get alittle more.

I bought my Gen II not because it was the fastest thing in the world, or because it was the lightest. I bought it because it fit the bill perfectly.

I needed something that looked sporty, but was comfortable to ride 3 hours a day to work and back. I needed something that would cruise on the interstate at a good pace, but if I needed to kick it in the ass and move out of the way, it could go. I needed something that if I wanted to go visit my brother who lives 15 minutes from the Dragon and ride the mountains, I could do that.

I love my Gen II and did not see myself buying any other motorcycle on the market.

Get a life....has nothing to do with President Obama. Restrictions have been a way of life for a while, that's why the 99 Busa is the only year that's not restricted...

Sounds like you've lost the love for you're busa....maybe its time to sell her and buy one of those liter bikes that impress you so much? Why own a big heavy old slow pig when you can have a liter instead? Even the gen2's "lack luster performance gain" as you put it doesn't sound like much fun compared to a smokin' hot liter bike

For all intent and puposes..The Busa does everything i love in a bike......Even if there are quicker bikes stock going to be sold.. does not matter to me...Like someone said..if you want more power and speed..So many parts and mod's to choose from.....
I am happy with a full pipe and PCII ....never ever going to be slow...
Whats not to like...just because it won't corner like a Duc..at 59 i don't care...still digging my 01 after soon to be TEN Years....

Suzuki will have a new version of the Busa that will blow the doors off the competition. I figure about 2015? Just wait.......

You get a life, or better yet open your eyes. The epa has gone wild under
the current administration and will only get worse. If cap and tax doesn't pass,
which it wont after the repubs spank the dems in november, they are looking
to do it with the EPA...duh.

Big difference between a minor restriction and ones more so than the socialist euro's.

:rofl: My eyes are always open...and see all...

Oh of course, of course they are, no one can pull ANYTHING over on you....oh wait I need
the idiot laughing man to prove some...point
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

There that's better....

The Hayabusa is pitched at being "all things to all peoples"...which by it's very job description, has meant that others can take easy pot-shots at it with varying degrees of failure.
It can be adapted to drag, tour, customization and a whole lot of other uses including getting way over RW 200+hp. It's up to the individual to take it from the STOCK status to wherever it's destination is to be. From the Stock Price, this bike has carried ALL before it for the last 10 years.
It is also a seriously beautiful bike to just ride around at any "normal" legal speed and there lies it's true and unique talent. For the PRICE and for a lot of people, at ANY PRICE, the Hayabusa has no equal. This is not to say that other bikes are not lighter, better handling or easier get from A-B easier to park...and so on.
Even so, there aren't that many around, even now as alternatives which do just about everything so brilliantly at any price.
Maybe the ERA of such beautifully powerful machines is OVER. All it takes is legislation requiring strict noise/carbon-pollution tax plus MORE TAX every which way, to kill off something like this.
For example, V8's. WHO REALLY wants one now, with fuel-prices and gov. taxes the way they are going?
My guess is that the Gen 3 will not take another 10 years. Maybe 5 years, which will make it around 2013, where the Hayabusa will disappear completely, or come out of it's fighting corner in new trim. Lighter weight (read;new titanium exhaust.), better brakes and handling, braided brake/clutch lines and so on, possibly all included in a "Special Edition" on top of the Standard. Still at an affordable price too!
Am I worried? NO!
Even if we all had to go back to horse and cart, that's a GOOD THING!!!
However, I am already more than satisfied that that I now have already,
arguably the BEST Motorcycle in History, available to the Common Man.
Long Live THE KING!
