i have been wearing layers and layers of clothes when riding in the cold weather. i have an idea of using a full wet suit to block the wind under my clothes. does anyone have any ideas on if this would work? might get one from a pawn shop if it works.

thanks
john

Well here's my 2cents :

Make sure your outer shell is windproof. I have a Joe Rocket Alter Ego with a nylon inner liner (love this jacket)and matching pants.
Wear a good polar fleece shirt and polar fleece long underwear (ski shops or outdoor shops will have those) or a good turtle neck shirt; Jeans and a sweat shirt.
I usually ride until it gets close to freezing (32 F or 0C) in the morning but warms up a bit durng the day. After that it gets too cold mostly for tire grip. Heck got caught in late fall snow sqalls a few times

Dear John

You're going to ride four hours straight on a 'Busa?

More power to you, dude! I couldn't take that at any temperature. I can do about two forty-five-minute stints and then have to break every half hour.

You might want to consider an electric vest, socks, and gloves.

Please keep us posted on what you choose and how it works for you.

And good luck!

That's only because you are used to the warm weather. Did 1200 miles in 50 degrees w/ rain all day every day. 50's is shorts weather for me.

Is there a reason you would not consider a heated jacket liner?

cheers

I have wore frogtogs under my jacket before, same effect, and that helped me at the time. No wind,= warmer temp.

Seems like some really good quality thermal underwear would work better under those layers you're already wearing.Wetsuit would be too restricting and won't breath at all.Have you ever worn one? They're tight and you can't bend as well, kinda springy and stiff.Don't get crap thermals at K Mart or Wallmart or something.Go to a ski or snowboard shop. O that's right, you're in Florida, may not be too many ski shops, just surf shops, hence the wetsuit idea.Try LL Bean,Cabella's,Bass Pro or someplace like that, that sells real good outdoor hunting and camping gear. You'll stay warm but still breath. My 2 cents worth

when it gets really cold, I just pull my rain cover out of the hump and put it on... stops all the air from getting through my leathers..
