where to start first (shift problem)

Hey org. it been a while to much to do and not enough time including riding.

I have a shift problem when I up shift bike is running fine but when i go to down shift I have to tap shifter up alittel then down shift for ever gear where should i start to look.

i would start with making sure all linkage is not binding up.....my first guess

After checking the linkage it gets rough

How about the clutch, how many miles on that beast, how do you ride, etc.

Have you issed any upshifts of first to second?
Your shift forks may be damaged if you did.

no issues with gears it doesnt jump out of gear once in any pointer on how to check shift linkage. not rode hard this year on track a few time but not enough to cause tran problems.

Sounds like a problem inside by the shift star like the ratcheting mechanism. Pull the water pump aside and take the shift cover off to take a look.

Sound like the famous busa tranny getting ready to wipe out. Check the shift forks and gears. I belive the bad gears are usually 2,3,5

I have an issue also, I have a prob going from 4-5 and 5-6 unless I am really on it hard. Although, if I don't use the clutch, it will go into these gears just fine. I was told by my dealer that this is normal for some bikes?!????and that it would not be covered under my ESP.
