I voted for the Tobin, I have had both Corbin came with bike and traded it for a factory seat that I sent to Tobin to get done. With the Corbin felt like I was sitting ontop of the Busa, with the Tobin lowers the seating position and you feel like you are sitting in the Busa.

Corbins aren't for everyone. They use the hardest damned foam I have ever seen! But it is there for the right reason. Once you let it break (5K miles) in it is a comfy place to be. High quality materials throughout! The Tobin is extremely popular on here though I haven't ever sat on one.

Corbin also makes a softer seat compound. Just ask for it. They made a custom seat for one of my CBXs and after a 4,000 mile tour and another 1,000miles or so, it was still killing my butt so I took it back and they fixed it while I waited. Never tried a Tobin but my guess is that its thinner and less comfy than a stocker or a Corbin.

I have the Corbin. The seat is very firm but the shape cradles your behind so well , it is actually very comfortable. The front rise on the seat pushes me back more than I like - feels like I am always reaching for the handle bars. Also the perforated leather covering is quite slippery making it a little squirrely when hitting the throttle hard. Because the materials are so stiff, the outer edge of the seat digs into your inner thigh when your feet are down. I'm 5'9" so a taller person may not have the same issues with the seat. The seat comes with its own fiberglass pan which is quite heavy.

I have always liked my Tobin seat as far as comfort. If your bike sits outside at all like mine does at work then the fading colors of the stiching SUCKS. I sent mine back and had it recovered and in one season it looks bad.

When I swapped from the Corbin to the Tobin you could see the rub mark on the tank left behind from the Corbin and it was a good 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" higher than where the Tobin seat sits.

I have a Tobin for me, and a Corbin w/back rest for my wife. Tobin feels more like sitting in the bike to me. :2cents:

Tobin asks for your height and weight, he builds the seat to match you and the best seating position for max comfort with the correct foam density. I was not aware he was doing this until I spoke to him.
When he called me, yes he called me, I was very pleased with the conversation.
I have called Corbin in the past and did not receive the same treatment.
He may come to the spring bash. He was up in the air about it due to his busy schedule.
I think if he received some emails from more members inviting him....................

Bottom line, you will not go wrong with the Tobin.

perhaps i should not vote just yet, but...
I just put a tobin on my bike and love the way it looks, fits and sits...
Now i sit down in the bike, not up on top as it seems to feel...
And i like having my nuts against the tank and the hump pad holding me there, no more sliding back on a hard launch...
So, therefor, i say, tobin...

David

i love that seat. How much was that beauty?

Can someone let me know if the seat being sold on ebay are of the same of Tobin?
If so then turnaround issue is no longer there. I'm very interested but need to make it's of the same one.

eBay Motors: 99-07 Hayabusa Custom Drag/Show Seats Front Seat!! NICE (item 110340185603 end time Feb-18-09 09:51:35 PST)

I would do the Tobin, this ebay deal looks like you have to send in your seat anyway before they ship you the new one.
You might save one day or two at the most.
Tobin will set your seat up for you based on your height and weight.
And if you have problems, you deal with him.
I say go with Tobin, I have never seen a complaint on the org about his work and reputation.
Besides, your seat is the most personal piece on the busa.

I hope this post was not too late... if so what did you end up doing?
