My Corbin seat is about 1 1/4" lower than the stock seat. It is very firm but it is sculpted to fit the butt. It is higher in the front to keep your nuts off the tank too. It pushes me back a little farther than I would like. I have to reach for the bars a bit now. I asked about softer foam when I ordered mine and they said no. They just use the one; they feel it is the best. I don’t find it slippery at all. Since you actually sit in the seat, it is harder to slide your butt to the edge for the twisties. I am 6’ tall with a 34” inseam and the outer edge of the seat digs into the inner thighs when my feet are down. Overall, I’m happy with it. The Tobin’s do look nice though.

that information sounds like it would make it NOT the choice for the shorter rider. I am 5'7" and have to be sitting up front against the tank. When I accelerate hard I slide back on the stock seat. I will order one soon. Tobin

I have been riding with my Tobin for about a month, and I can tell you that it is great when you are setting up for a twisty. It supports you better when you get up off the tank. Just my opinion.

Oh, and Silver...STOP FOLLOWING ME!!!

What is the purpose of the step in the tobin. Is it functional? If I understand it correctly Tobin will make the seat with or without the step. Anyone ridden both? Is there a difference? I'm thinking (never sat on one) that it is just the lower height that creates a better seating position. Someone please educate me why a Tobin appears to be so comfortable to so many... I am fairly happy with the stock seat, but hey if there is a better seat than who am I not to have one too?!?

The factory seat you tend to sit ON but with the Tobin / New Image seats you sit IN them (kinda like a saddle). The small section on the back holds you in place and prevents you from slamming into the hump on hard acceleration.
