I'm less than a month away from 50. I feel great and the Busa suits me just fine. That being said, I also have a Yamaha Road Star Silverado (Yami's Road King clone). I like both styles of riding and these two bikes make it possible for me.

Funny, most of the Busa owners are younger than me and most of the Silverado owners are older. Go figure. I'm kind of happy not to fit squarly into either group!

My question to the wise (and perhaps older) folks of this board is.....at what point does one have to seriously consider that he's too old to drive the mighty busa?  I've seen lots of 60 and 70 year olds on Harleys and Goldwings but monkeys will fly out of my ass before I ride a Harley and I don't think my soul would sit well with a Gold Wing.  I guess I am asking, how many more years do I have on this freaking rocket???

Relax babuski.  Don't even think about how much more time you have to ride your Busa.  It's not even an issue at your young age.  I'm 68 and in the second year of riding my Busa.  I'll ride it until something breaks, in me, that is.

Maybe peer pressure discoureges someone riding a Busa.
My Coworkers think i am nut's..start talking over 200 rw and they talk about obit's..sheez.. I am 53 and i don't listen to them. I enjoy riding this Busa more than any other bike i have had ! I also try to tell them that i ride as defencive as possible at all times and only Go Waaay fast out in the very rural parts of where i live...Sometimes i may feel a bit wobbly
[hangover maybe] and will turn around and go back home.
Usually though the Busa and i klick together real well.

A man needs to know his limitations. Do you feel lucky? I feel very fortunate to be able to ride a scooter of this caliber- Also Thank the Captain and his henchmen.

Well I'm only 41yrs young in a month so not 48 but unless you a really special boy at 8 I'm not sure that would qualify as father

Riding a Harley for the last few years has increased my love for riding, but left me wanting more "Acceleration"!
Still have the comfort of the Dyna Wide Glide, but now my thirst for power is quenched with my '04 'Busa.

By the way, I'm 39.

I am 46 and have run the whole gambit since I was 10 starting with a Sears 4 HP mini bike. I went through dirt bikes, motocross racing, CBX, GS1100E, a identity crisis for 10 years and 7 Harleys, then I found myself and my inner need for speed. I am very happy with my Busa and the quick blasts to XXX. No looking back, you cannot deny the need for speed.

The beauty of the busa is that you don't have to go fast...it'll tour two up...hold it's own on a track...blast down a drag strip or take you to the buy the newspaper...and it looks like 200mph parked in the garage too...
I'm 46 and loving my busa...always had bikes and not planning to give up my fix anytime soon...

I think Riding is timeless, all ages enjoy the sport. Seen some old timers on latest and greatest Italian bikes tearing up the road with 19 year olds riding gixxers. With all the helmets and gear you couldn't tell who's who. They all road like maniacs

babuski - A salute to your spirit and spunk--congrats! I think the term "Use it or lose it" applies to the body and mind. If one's heath is good, and if we are realistically in touch with our abilities and limitations, then why not ride? I was 61 last week (started on mo-peds at 13). Many, many bikes have had temporary residence in my garage throughout those years but the Busa is the "keeper" of the bunch because it does it all well and...it keeps my mind alive, very alive. As long as it feels right, keep riding Brother!

I have to give credit to the younger busa owners, at 20 with busa, I would have been a statistic....my biggist problem these days seems to be keeping the 20 year old girls off the back of the busa. Where did I put that hump....

I go riding with my 68 year old dad on his FZ1 quite often. He's got a Wing too, but since picking up the Yamaha the Wing has been collecting dust.

Okay boys and girls.  I just celebrated my 48th birthday.  Which means I'm old enough to be the father of some of you youths!

I pulled into my garage the other night after a birthday celebration and looked at my beautiful hayabusa and couldn't believe it.  I'm 48 years old and driving a bike that goes nearly 200 mph and is driven usually by folks 20 years younger than I and goes from zero to 60 in 2.4 seconds.

My reflexes have slowed but are still lightning fast from kickboxing for many years.  My muscles are not as strong as they were but after two years and 13,000 miles (8000 of them in the last 6 months!!), I can say I'm finally comfortable on my busa.

Let me tell ya all a story
at Suzuki Of Cincinnati we had a customer I myself sold him over 100 motorcycles
His name was Raymond Kirtley
when he died he had 12 brand new Suzuki's
one he had just bought but was able to put 1150 miles on it in three days, folks he was 93 years old . The Day he bought the GSXR1100 Mr Suzuki himself was at the dealership
he congratulated Ray on his purchase, Ray was so proud to have met the Man as he said Of Mr. Suzuki
Ray also had a GSXR750 and several other katana's and the thing about Ray I asked him one Day Ray why buy so many bikes he goes Lannis your a good kid , but I have only a couple of nephews left he had oulived all the rest anyway he said they want nothing but my money, well they hate motorcycles and when I die I'm going to give them my Suzuki collection. This guy rode in both world wars as a messanger
in WW 1 he was the personal messenger for general perhsing
retired from post office and the rail road told me stories of snicking into the springfield mile he goes they raced that race on boards and would grin so big telling of getting to see that race , he couldn't pay to get in see he was black
not allowed, Ray was a super guy and he always paid cash
never ever bought a criuser. Im 45 now and remember my talks with Ray in fact I cherish all the stories and the rides together he'd say Lannie do one of them wheelies for me, he'd say you sure can ride I miss Ray but he got to do what he loved till ninty three
plus put it to the ones trying to take him for his cash he spent almost all of it with me and my dad Gentleman Jim
In fact we bought the casket and plot over five hundred from cincinnati area came to funeral not one of his family was there
so big guy keep on keeping on
